GT or sixxer?

So I'm looking into getting either a 2010 or newer sixxer or a 2007-2009 GT. I would love to have a newer GT but I just can't afford it. The newer sixxers are either the same price or cheaper than the older GTs here. As much as I'd love a GT, there are none so far that fit my budget. So the question is will I regret not getting the GT? I'm in no rush to buy and still looking, just want some opinions please...

Get a GT you won't regret it, the sound and feel of an 8 is so much better. My wife and I bought an 07 V6 and I never got attached to it like my 10 GT, I love that car. It drives so much better. Get a GT.

So I'm seeing that the common consensus is to hold off for a GT. Aside from the motors what are the differences between an older GT and a newer sixxer?

The torque feel is a huge difference. You can never get that out of a six

Cheaper insurance and better gas. Go for the V6. I have a 2010 V6 and I have no complaints. Throw a TC/SC on there and you'll be any stock GT. .

If you can afford the GT(gas, tires, ins, etc) get the GT. you'll be much happier in the long term.

Think I'm gonna hold out for the GT unless I get a smoking deal on a new v6. Then again if I get the v6, I'll have the perfect excuse to upgrade to a Shelby down the road....thanks for all the replies! Feel free to keep em coming..

Man I smoked a 2010 2ss with my new 2012 v6... and it can't even be called a race when my mom tries to fool around with her 2006 GT. There is no want for power in the new sixxers! I would confidently line up with ANY close-to-stock 05-09 GT.

I have no freaking clue honestly... my buddy was test driving it and I didn't want him to get it so i raced him. First pass I took him by 3 car lengths 2nd time he got me by a nose... so then the tie breaker he said that he didn't want the damn thing if he can only beat a sixxer by a bumper! Lol mission success!

Re: GT or sixxer?

I had an older GT, love my 3.7. Wouldn't have done it any different.

Re: GT or sixxer?

Unless you are dying for a V8, get a 6. With gas prices today and the cost of insurance, you will save money in the long run.

The Headlights are the only thing i don't like about the 05 style, the lights are the eyes of the car and with huge eyes like that it doesn't look that aggressive.

Aside from that, I would say get the GT. You will not regret it at all.

Yea it does but I was strictly talking about the lights not being aggressive to me.

I was in the same place as you I test drove a couple 2012-13 v6's any they are nice cars but I ended up getting an older GT. saved money and put some mods on it. I love it. If you are going to keep it stock get the 6. But If you plan on modding the 05-09 GT's are a great choice. And I can get 23+ mpg in my gt. insurance may bd cheaper on the v6 tho.

Get the v6 trust me it will have less miles and 305hp is plenty for the street plus it's a newer model and you can throw a GT body kit on it if you really want just don't put the gt emblems on

Re: GT or sixxer?

300hp is plenty for the street, and at the same time thats what GT's had of yesteryear, but the thing I'm asking you is: how many STOCK gt's do you see running around, ok great so those guys are broke, how many stock GT's where the owner will tell you, with a straight face "I've owned this thing three years and i'm still amazed by the power". everybody upgrades because thats half the fun, working on it getting greasy and enjoying your new upgrade....well from my end of the hobby, there are people who accidentally buy a mustang not realizing how much of a car they are getting. my mustang was too slow, so i bought a crotch rocket.
