Hit and run?

I'm 18 and have my own insurance and someone scraped my rear quarter panel and of course drove away. I was wondering if turning it in on insurance would make my rates go up? Because I don't want that. I'd rather just pay the 500$ and fix it..

Your best bet is fix it without turning it in, rates could go up due to age. If your deductible is 500 and could only cost you 400 to fix, not worth rates going up ... Just saying

Re: Hit and run?

It does suck that someone would do that. The damage sounds minor and not worth reporting. Just pay out of pocket

With state farm your insurance doesn't go up for a hit and run

Yea if you have uninsured motorists on policy. But... you have to know who hit you before you can use it.

That's not right, my mom must went through this. With state farm and it might be the same with other insurance companies, if you are a victim of a hit and run they will cover your car and your insurance premium will not go up. You do have to pay your deductible though and you might have to have a police report.
