Starter

This evening I went to pull my car up to cover it and the starter would only click and slowly spin. Battery is newer and reading over 12v. Has anyone else had any starter issues? I'm guessing either corrosion on some terminals or either the solenoid/starter is bad. 99 Cobra 80k

Re: Starter

I had the same problem on my 2000 v6 a while back. Turns out the battery was fine, but the terminals were extremely corroded. Replaced the battery and the connectors and never had a problem again.

My battery posts are flawless I was thinking maybe the connections on the starter itself or possibly the cable itself.

Scrap that battery read 12v but not enough to engage starter. Charged batteey over night car started immediately. Pulled hot wire with it running and car died instantly. I can only assume now its the alternator. Is the PA performance good?

Re: Starter

I have never used it, but at least you figured out what the problem is.

I'm just glad it's not the starter I've read where it could be a royal pain.

Re: Starter

Yeah, I have heard that too. Hard to install and pretty expensive.

The alternators higher from what I've seen. Should be pretty easy unless I have to take hoses in the front apart.

Ok now I'm confused. Cranked car checked to see what alternator was putting out (13.8) unhooked + battery cable car continued to run. Drove car for a few and I seen the battery gauge in the car jumping from about 1/4 to about 1/2. Has anyone else had this occur

Also would the voltage regulator cause this?
