Depends on the 04 could have been a Mach (which is a 4v) or a cobra (which is a 4v) but still if it was a 2v the mustang is a lot lighter and with a few bolt-on putting down same HP if the cam was stock

Camaro could of been stock, 305 or 350, non HO.. Their dogs especially autos.. If it was a 4 speed big block car it would of ate that stang for breakfast.. Except 03-04 cobras, talking stock to stock... Oh and don't forget about driver vs driver..

Well yea big block 454vs280 (I think) wouldn't of been any competition.

The OP said GT not Mach or cobra, to be fair it was probably a 350 in the Camaro, that's what like 90% of people do, but if it was built up its probably a turd

I understand that but it's easy to mistake a Mach for a GT at a distance.
But still Gt is lighter and putting out close to the same power with normal bolt on's. A stock 350 isn't all that power full.

---------- Post added at 12:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:23 PM ----------

The popular 72 SS had a 240hp 396 the 72 SS with the 350 had 300 hp.
A 04 weights around 3,200 pounds vs the SS which is around 3,600 pounds.
So for a 2v GT to beat a 72 SS wouldn't be all that hard.

But who doesnt fix up a 350? Headers are like 100 bucks, intake 100 bucks on eBay/Craigslist, carb probably cheaper and better then rebuilding the stock one, but even then ya itd be close, but after a cam the story changes pretty quick

But stock to stock a 2v would still win around 400-500 pounds lighter both with basic mods GT would still win.
We are stalking about the race he seen not if it had cams or super charger or whatever else.
The race was either stock that's why the GT won or both had a few basic mods that's why the GT won.
Power/weight ratio is amazing!
