Hey guys, just a quick question here. I got a 99 V-6, I for the last couple of weeks ive been driving it with worn out pads. i hear a grinding eveytime I brake. I'm gonna replace the front rotors and the pads, nothing super, just want to know if i should spend $200 on Ford parts, or go over to Autozone and spend $120 on Duralast or some other manufacturer. Is the quality equal?
If everyday stopping/driving is all you are concerned about, any generic pad will work just fine really...My brake pad of choice is Hawk Performance...I use HP Plus on all 4 corners, but i am sure that that is far more pad than you need...
I replaced my brakes on my 2002 V6 about 12 months ago with all generic stuff. No signs of serious wear yet. Lifetime warranty on Brake pads from Discount Auto. I think I ordered my rotors through Year One for about $110 shipped.
brake pads and rotors are something that you get what you pay for......if you want to stop quicker go for the ones that aren't bottom line.
