Brake Light.... Shifting Gears? Help!

So the other day my mom said my brake lights went on when I was shifting. (originally she though I was actually hitting the brakes and driving like a ******). I drove at night and tried seeing if they did that but I didn't notice anything. I just got home now from a car meet and on the car my friend passed me and asked why I hit the brakes while he was passing me. I was actually downshifting. Does anyone know why my car is doing this? This is my first manual and my first mustang so I'm kinda clueless.

Are you accidentally grazing the brake pedal with your foot when hitting the clutch maybe?

I doubt it. Every time I shift gears?

it doesn't have to graze much to do it...if you were in a new edge i'd say the two wires that lead to the brake light switch are burned out and are in need of replacing (out of the 3 new edges i've owned all three had this issue lol)

Could it be the same issue even though I'm in a 2010?

Have someone stand behind your car and you lightly press the brake and have them tell you when they come on. That will tell you how touchy the pedal is for the lights to kick on.

I watched a Shelby do that at the drag strip, I think its got something to do with how hard/fast you are pushing the clutch in and maybe its moving the brake pedal with it?

They are touchy, but the chances of me hitting my brake everytime I shift is pretty hard. My foot stays in the same position is doesn't move left or right just up and down.

Hmm maybe that's it. I'll have to look into it more. I don't like that it does that.

Its an idea at least. I know it bugged me watching the Shelby go down the track.

Yeah I tried messing with it yesterday and I realized that it's inky when I push the clutch in hard so when I'm driving normal it doesn't do that but if I'm going to pass someone or flooring it for whatever reason they go off.

Basically when you're shifting hard/fast? Sounds to me like its the assembly somehow.

Can you see if there's any minting screw/bolts loose?

I'm not exactly sure. If you get under the dash and look at where the pedals are mounted. There should be screws or bolts or something holding it in place.
