Ever run out of gas?

Has anyone drove their car till it was out of gas? And did you leave it on the side of the road ? Or call a friend for help?

I ran out of gas once less than a block from the gas station. I was able to coast it just off the side of the road and then walked to the gas station. Hopefully that was my first and last time

I ran out if gas in my first car 1999 Chevy blazer and was able to cost INTO the gas station and up to the pump lol first time I ever drove a cad without power steering too!

I also ran out of gas in my 91 f-150 when the fuel gauge quit working said I had a quarter tank left. Thankfully it was 2 miles from my house.

3 TIMES! All due to my wife driving home on fumes.

You probably have about a gallon left when the range says 0 miles

I ran out of gas in my 1968 Dodge Charger going to get gas. I was only 1/4 mile away and had my friend get out and push

Not me, I'm too chicken to let it get to where the warning light comes on.

The closest I have gotten, is within 10 miles (fuel status). I usually fill up once I have a 1/4 tank of gas left, as stated above, not good for your car.

The only time I have ever come close to running out of gas was on my dads motorcycle( green 2001 zrx1200) coming down the highway after a meeting at work and a 1/4 mile from my house the bike started to bog and lose speed, had to pull on the side of the highway to coast to the gas station, I was lucky enough for the bike to hold at 45mph to get to the gas station lol.

Re: Ever run out of gas?

It's been a long, long time. That car was carbureted, so less issue than these days. Parked it & walked to the station.

I haven't pushed the Mustang too much (hit 0 rolling into the station once already). I know there is about 1-1.5 gallons left when the gauge says 0 & I've pushed the Focus a few times. Playing with fire...

Almost did in my truck once... When I got to the gas station I pumped over 24 gallons into the 25 gallon tank.

I did in my 86 camaro because my gas gauge didn't work and I was only getting 8 mpg and I thought it was more like 20

Re: Ever run out of gas?

Not yet and I don't plan to... Never let my gauge get less than 1/4 tank because I don't trust that it's 100% accurate hahaha

Ran out of gas in my '93 Vette. The gas gauge doesn't work well. Got out the car at 1/4 tank, fired her back up and was low fuel. I didn't make it to the pump. I was in the middle of no where and had to call a friend.

At least it wasn't a regular sized car.
