Sold the New Edge Gt :(

Sold the New Edge Gt, and I'm looking at getting a new 5.0!
Gona miss my old '99 :'(

I'm crossed between getting a new 5.0 or buying an 05-09 3v Gt. For about $13k I can go pick up a nice 3v in my area with decently low miles, or I can spend about $27k and get the new 11-12 5.0.

Opinions please?

But for the price difference, is it worth it?

I think the 11-12 body style is tied for sexiness with the new edge. And you get wayyyyy more for the money. You can more power with boltons in the coyote than the stock motor can handle in the 3v, and if you do it right you can double to rwhp on the coyotes for under 10k possibly even under 7k if you are thrifty... Just in case the 470 from just boltons isn't enough power lol

Absolutely, I've driven both (have not owned both) and the 5.0 is about 15 years ahead of the 3v

What about the 05-09 bodystyle GT500's? Those are selling for about the same price as a new 5.0

Yea, the 07-09GT500's are pretty cool, my issue with them is their iron motor, heavy nose and lack of traction. And from what I hear they're actually closer to mid 30's for decent ones, most lightly used 11-12 are mid 20's unless it's fully loaded the closer to 30

Yea a nice 07-09 gt500 will run you 35k + for that price you could get a used 2011. 5.0 ( 25-27k ) and supercharge it for around 9k or less and be faster than the gt500.

I've even seen a 2011 5.0 basic manual for 22k with like 24,000 miles.

Yeah I'm seeing the 11-12 5.0s in the price range of a 13 v6 depending on the dealer

It depends what would you like better a brand new car or a semi new car the 3v. A 5.0 basic will run you like 25k and a loaded one will be 30+k. You can buy a 3v and put a blower on it with bolt ons and some motor work and be like 10k into it. So 13k+10k=23k. You would be well over 480hp and and less at a price. If u want a new car with great power than a new 5.0 would be you're choice.

Yeah the new body style is pretty damn sexy. I can't choose between the New Edge and the new body style, I think the new body style would have to take the win though because the new interior blows the New Edge interior out of the water, I've always hated the 99-04 interior.

The 5.0 gets 30mpg supposedly and is a much more versatile engine that the old 3v. But then again I get anywhere from 16-34mpg in my 11 v6. These motors in the new mustangs are great. But the old ones as I remember are pretty durable as my last one I sold with over 230,000 miles on the whole car with no issues. Get the 5.0. Nuff said

Well 30mpg is a stretch, not sure where you got that, but they are pretty good on gas, especially for a 400+ hp sports car

I'd love to see a 5.0 GT with a window sticker that says that, 18-25 for autos and 17-26 for manuals, the only place it may say 30 is if they're referring to the range that could be seen depending upon driving habits

5.0 all the way. They are beasts and respond good to simple mods.
