First oil change

Ok. So I have about 1100 miles on my new mustang. I've been told to go ahead and get my oil changed after 1500 miles due to being new and first oil change. Is there truth to this. And also. What would be the best for my vehicle. No mods yet, and will be a while till I do any mods.

There are many schools of thought on this matter, but the bottom line is this: In order to keep your warranty you only need to change your oil as your Owner's Manual instructs. On 2012 this would mean waiting until the Oil Monitor says you need a change.

Many folks still recommend the early change to get the break-in contaminants out of the motor sooner, but the evidence in support of that action with modern engines is pretty slim.

Again, you can change early, but you only HAVE to do as much as your manual requires.

Good Luck!

My dealer works for someone important, who is close to me, so I trust them. They were sure that it should be done before a CAI or by 6-7k miles.
