I agree to a point. What's your rationale on why the Mustang is not a muscle car with an example. Pony car, not sports car agreed.

How so? I didn't know there were official labels on it. i don't see getting so worked up on it. So what is a muscle car? Webster said a two door car for high performance, so what are those? GT500 and zr1 or z06? Cts v coupe?

I mean, the datsun z isn't in there, genesis, does the GT even count? What is this, clearly very important, determining factor, and how does it apply to cyclone chatting it up about the ft86?

Historically (when the segment is credited with beginning) "muscle cars" were midsized cars with a focus on performance, especially straightline. So things like the Chevelle SS/GTO. Mustangs/Camaros/Firebirds have always been subcompact/compact cars. That is why the vast majority of people refer to the '63 GTO as the first muscle car. The Tempest had big engines before the GTO, but going fast was never its purpose. Full-sized cars had enormous engines for years, but they were never marketed as "performance" cars.

Not getting worked up. From dictionary references I can agree that all Mustangs/Camaros, etc are pony cars. Certain Mustangs with powerful engines (I.e. V8's) could be classified as muscle cars. I've seen a couple of your threads where you pointed out Mustangs weren't sports cars... Agreed. My opinion and I believe references support that pony cars can be a subset of Muscle cars. For the the record I am a fan of all performance cars not just Mustangs.

I can respect/understand that opinion. It's just my opinion to stick with the classical definition.

I would test drive it again a few times. Just make sure it's what you want. Drive it in the rain, snow etc. It will be your only vehicle.

I didn't mean you getting worked up. I attempt to make sure I am clear that I am expressing views, and some people immediately jump to what they portray as facts or definite points. This makes things appear to be worked up, rather than chatting.

But muscle cars, I have always been under the impression, were front rear two doors focused on power rather than anything else. Is a challenger a muscle car to me? As much as I think they are worthless, to me, they are. I can get pony cars are affordable muscle cars to people, but when I think about the 1965 GT350 had 306 ho, and the power to weight ratio of cars then to now, just makes me wonder how a United States, two door FR isn't a muscle car.

A muscle car to me is a v8. And as far as trading in your stang do what makes you happy man I'm like you I respect a lot of different types of cars mustang has always been one of my favorite cars. Since you drive in snow a AWD seems right for you, and also a v6 will decrease in value more than a GT each year so if you were going to sell it I wouldn't wait to late.

BRZ isn't AWD.

Yea I wouldn't either, I was thinking about a totally different car. The one he is looking at is super light I wouldn't recommend that in the weather conditions he's living in. When it starts sliding it will be a handful to get it back straight.

That's the worst comparison in the world and yeah a mustang gt is a modern day muscle car btw, calling a 1970 car a muscle car and a new car (that runs 2 seconds faster) a pony car is wack aka gay

OP, I respect your view. You do what you need to.

But to me, there is no way an ft86 stock for 25 comes anywhere near a 6stang for 22. I know the Stang is more like 23, but there are always rebates-not anytime soon on the ft.

True, Mustang can NOT be that suspension. Entire vehicle would have to come apart, different engine, it would noy work. IF the ft was 2k cheaper, I could see it. But for areas like mine and the OP, where 4 inches of snow is a good day, for the current price and current condition, no way.

At least we are talking Subaru. When they first came out it seemed like the scion was a bit of a waste.

I think I might prefer the Scion because of what I've read of the suspension tuning. But driving them would be the only way to know for sure. Honestly if I was spending $25k on a car I have no idea what I would choose. Used 5.0, C5 Vette, another S2000... there are just far too many options for me to decide on that right now. Depends on if it was the only car or not.

All the reviews I read sais that the scion is 'built' to handle better, ans the Subaru is built to drive better. Then they tested them on the track, ans the Subaru was faster lol

And at the end of the day, do you want a teenager's toyota or a Subaru?

I don't base what I buy off of what other people buy. They're basically the same car with small differences.

I see. I would go with the Subaru, as I said, because it performs better in the reviews I have read, if I had to make a decision now.

I take it you like the scion better?

I love the gt,,but i wouldnt look down on the 6,,by not calling it a muscle car,,they can be modded to run with the 8,,or even beat a few,,,Cant always go by the emblems..Alot of people cant afford the gt or the cobra,,and the new 6 runs good and gets good gas mileage,,I wouldnt be embarrased to drive one..Ive always called mine a mustang

+1 it's still a mustang but I wouldn't consider it a muscle car, but like you said not everyone can afford a cobra or a Gt. one reason I have a 01 Gt is because I can't afford a new one and plus 99-04 are my favorite styles. I respect any car it doesn't matter the engine, I know the work that goes into modding and I respect that. The new v6 are mean! I have a ton of respect for how much power the new v6 are putting out I think it's pretty amazing numbers.
