Headers, shorty vs. long tube?

I just bought my first Mustang. I am getting ready to do some mods and am looking at adding some headers to the engine. Which version is the best HP increase for your money? Can't decide which headers to go with. Does it matter?

Id you want performance and sound then go with longtubes. Shortys won't net you much since the stocks flow well as they are.

If I go with the long tubes, I will have to mod the exhaust at the same time?
