Drag Racing

I have a 71 maverick body that is set up for a small block ford with no engine and trans. Could I pull the engine and trans out a 2002 mustang gt and use that? Or would a engine and tran be better out of a 1993 mustang? Suggestions? Tips?

Anything is possible with enough money, time, and skill.

I would think the new cammer engines would be a really tight fit. I know it's quite tight in my project car--'73 Pinto with a 351W, and that is with smaller pushrod heads. IIRC, basically the same platform. I would think fender wells will need to go & hood might (probably) would need to be a cowl one. I would also anticipate cutting out the engine mounts & replacing them if they are for a Windsor block--I'd be surprised if the modulars have the same mounts.

A pre 84 motor would be the easiest.
