02 Grey v6 Project Log

Hey guys new here and thought I would share my project log here. Hope this is the right section. In May I purchased an auto 02 v6 from an older couple (original owner) that was in great shape, only 38k miles on it. Have about 46k on it now. Finally got some extra cash to throw at the thing and plan on modding it out over the next year or so. Gonna start with appearance mods then work my way to performance. Already put a decent pioneer deck and pioneer speakers in her, sounds good enough for me.

Here is what she looked like the day I bought her:

And my planned mods

Appearance:
-Black billet upper and lower grill (purchased)
-Black Bullet style Fuel door (purchased)
-Mach 1 Lower Lip (purchased)
-Smoked & black headlights (purchase)
-Gloss black mustang letters (installed)
-Gloss black decklid & lower insert (purchased)
-AM painted hoodscoop w/ black billet
-Smoked tailights
-Sequential light kit
-Window Tint
-PlastiDip the wheels
-Rear spoiler delete?
-Smoked fog lights?
-Other black decals?

Performance Mods:
-AM CAI
-Dual exhaust
-Tuner
-Others?

What do you guys think? Got about $300 worth appearance mods on the way and I will make sure to post pics when they are installed. Definitely got the mustang fever.

Welcome dude, can't wait to see some pics of the newly modded mustang! Good luck with everything, it should all be a breeze to install and will definitely be looking sharp after your preliminary list of mods you got going.

Got the pony all taped up and ready to add to the grille tomorrow:

Should be adding the mach 1 lip spoiler, fog lights, and black decklid vinyl in the next couple days.

Thanks!

Yeah I can't decide. I either want to add a scoop or remove the spoiler. I think they go together. I would like a scoop if I can find a good deal.

Also what do you think, matching grey one? Or a black one for some pop?

I was thinking black when I was typing it. It'd look cool. And maybe even paint ur spoiler black too that'd be cool if u decide to keep. But paint is f*****g expensive to be done good. I wanted to get my spoiler painted... $150 so I just took it off

Yeah paint is spendy...

Here is a scoop for $75. I could install it myself. I wonder how much it would cost to get painted to match my mineral grey vs painted gloss black:

Ford Mustang 01 04 Hood Scoop Air w Honeycomb Grille 7 MTG Pegs Primed | eBay

Cant decided if I would prefer black or mineral grey.

Edit: here is a decent install guide: http://www.mustangevolution.com/must...99-04-mustang/

A flat black hood scoop?

Edit: If I go flat black its probably something I could paint myself and be happy with the quality. I painted the fender molding on my old ranger and it turned out OK.

I have a 04 v6 sonic blue and went for performance first. Mine also is a work in progress but I put a BBK CAI on it, new NGK iridium spark plugs, and a flow master exhaust on it. Then I have gotten led halo headlights sequential rear brake lights and changed my gauge lights to blue. Now I'm looking at ordering a terminator heat extractor hood, a BBK throttle body, a new coil body, new spark plug wires, and since the sound system is pretty good already I'm going to just get one really good 10" sub for some extra kick in the bass.

I have a 10" alpine type r with a alpine v power 500watt amp and an alpine head unit... That thing kills. It's perfect for pur cars. All bass no rattle and it blows out a lot of 2 12" subs. Perfect for our size cars. Love it.

That's exactly what I was looking at to buy no joke. Where did you buy all your stuff for it and how much was it?

I really lucked out because it was my uncles and he sold it to me for $150. He said it was about a $700 system. That's the down part. I just lucked out.

I found the speaker and the amp for like around 300 alone so It would be around 450 altogether if I get them installed.

Going to be installing the chin spoiler and fog lights tonight after work. Yesterday I added the vinyl to the bumper and trunk. Not perfect but looks pretty good and hoping that the bubbles will work themselves out over time. Will post some new pics soon.

Alright got the fog lights all wired up, here are some pics:

Just spliced into the amber brown wire for power, this is before I soldered the wires together and then wrapped it in electrical tape.

For the ground I just stripped some of the wire, loosend up this ground bolt, put the wire underneath and re tightened the bolt.

Here is what it looks like plugged in, would still like to eventually put a real pig tail on each end though.

Here is the black vinyl I put on the back of the car a few days ago. Was going to do the whole trunk lid but the vinyl was cut to big and I tried trimming it and it didnt look good. Still think the license plate, letters and lower bumper look good though!

Installed the hood scoop last night, I purchased it off eBay and it came with the Saleen insert. Which I prefer, not a fan of the honey comb. Also installed a CAI last week. Might look into exhaust next if money isn't to tight.

Got the sequential tail lights on the way.

Also, if my tax returns are any good I was thinking about getting these wheels:
http://www.americanmuscle.com/solidb...17x8-9404.html

With these tires:
http://www.americanmuscle.com/sumito...245-45-17.html

Comes out to about $860 shipped with the 6% coupon code. What do you guys think? Or should I jump up to the 18" wheels?

Think I could sell my current stock alloy wheels and tires for $400+ ? The tires are probably at about 70-75% tread.

Lol he should lower even if he got 18s....why would you ever not want too :p

Looking good OP...as for the current wheels. In TN those stockers go for 150-200 on CL all the time.

Yeah I wanna lower her either way. Just don't really have the expertise for it or tools for it. I am sure I could take it down to my roomates dad's shop and he would help me swap them out for really cheap/free.

Will these springs work on a v6? I assume yes.
