That's too much for a radar IMO. I have an escort s2 cordless. It does the job fairly well. Better than a cobra and kinda budget friendly. I hear you have to update radars from time to time. So 500 every year or so vs 250? 250 for me.

You could always work in Law Enforcement and get paid while you're doing! But then again, that too has it's drawbacks...

I agree, the Valentine1 is not for everyone and yes it is expensive! But if you are a hardcore driver that has fast car or???? "Fairly Well" Just won't work when you're driving 100+ on the Highway. You want "The Best" or "Excellent" coverage. With the Valentine1, you get just that!! The dual antennas, and your ability to pay attention to your surrounding's is another factor.

Without the Valentine1, you just get tickets or worst case, taken in on Reckless Driving or Reckless Endangerment charges and your car impounded. Time off from work( because you're in jail, Bail, if you can afford it. The list can go up & up. That can be VERY expensive and time consuming to say the least! AND lets not forget your insurance is going to skyrocket and or they could dump you if you get a few. So, having the V1 WILL save you $$$$ In the long run, not to mention, the embarrassment of getting caught unaware or worse, ill-equipped!
ethangt03, I'm sorry to hear that.

For the record, I am NOT an advocate for breaking the speed limit laws! H***, any law for that matter!

The K40 Calibre radar detector and laser jammer was tested by a group of enthisiasts called "The Guys of Lidar" from the popular radar detector and jammer forum*http://www.radardetector.net.**In the video the K40 laser jammer failed to jam any of the police lidar devices that were shot at the vehicle during the test.**Also during the radar detector portion of the test the K40 radar detector performed worse then the $65.00 Cobra radar detector units that were also reviewed.

it's also mostly illegal across every state to have a jammer now so no, don't buy a jammer. my radar works just fine for me, overall performance a V1 is probably better but hey if you want the best you should just pay 1.6 million for a koenigsegg and run from them

My only problem with the V1 (besides price), the damn thing looks like a kids toy/cheap pos... You'd think for that kind if coin they'd make it decent looking... The Cobra I have is awesome, with 360 scanning and all.

Get another one, but this time put it in your headrest, that way they can't steal what they don't see and for $34.00 bucks and it can be displayed on your rear view mirror. And no ones the wiser

The Valentine-1 is priced factory direct at $399 and if you buy it direct it comes with lifetime upgrades. You don't have to keep buying another. They also highly recommend against buying used. Most sold on Craigslist or eBay are hot. Many have old revs. If you call in to get a hot one upgraded they report it as stolen and your out whatever money you spent. They are all registered. I'm saving for a new one. A Ticket plus cost and points will set me back as much as the detector.

I bought an Escort 8500 x50 black and it's awesome! Detects everything super far out and it's pretty cheap at $270ish on amazon. And for stats, go to radartest.com, it's awesome. Definitely the best for the price. Also, the beltronics rx65 is the same inside minus a few features and is a bit cheaper but with the same range and stuff.
