Why do these dealers and performance shops suggest you get a 78mm throttle body. When all I here is that anything over 70 for a NA car is too much and will cause problems?

I havent heard of a 78mm throttle body. 60mm,65mm,70mm,75mm, ect. Are you referring to the maf sensor housing? Generally a 70mm throttle body is as big as you will want for a naturally aspirated motor, 75mm and larger for boosted applications. As far as the MAF sensor housing goes, you want it to be larger than the throttle body.
