What is an S197 Mustang?

How is it different than a stock Ford Mustang? I'm referring to a 2005 model.

What is an S197 Mustang?

Its just the platform name. Every 2005 Mustang was an S197.

S197 is the 2005-current (5th gen).
SN95 was the 1994-2004 (4th gen).
Fox was the 1979-1993 (3rd gen).
Mustang II was the 1974-1978 (2nd gen).
Mustang I (?) was the 1964-1973 (1st gen).
