How do I latch my hood on my 67 Mustang?

http://www.bob2000.com/a68latch04.jpg

My husband and I just bought a 67 Mustang and when we went to close the hood we noticed that the second part of the latch wouldn't hook. The picture in this link is exactly what it looks like and the part where the guy's hand is, is the part that won't latch. I don't know if we are doing something wrong or if something might be missing. Thought I would come here and see if anyone had any suggestions on this. Anything would help. Thank you!

Try spaying the pivot points with a little WD40. Sometimes they stick a bit, so they don't latch very well. Had a similar issue on my '70 Mustang, and that fixed it. 67 and '70 use a similar style hood latch.

Go to auto parts store and by a repair manual about $10.00 it should
tell you.My guess is that if you take the latch out that there is some
thing bent or broken un less you did not push the release back in.
I went to pull up the link and it will not come up for me.
