I have a 1992 mustang GT Can any one install a fuel pressure regulator or is a mechanic needed?
It is fastened directly to the main fuel rail (on the return side of it) which supplies fuel to the fuel injectors. Should be attached with two bolts, probably having 7/16" or 1/2" diameter heads. It will have a small diameter, 1/8" approx. vacuum line attached to it from the intake manifold as well.
Very simple replacement, a manual is recommended for safety, but no adjustment is required for a stock replacement. Remember to relieve any fuel pressure that may be in the fuel rail before removing the fuel pressure regulator. There is a pressure relief valve (looks the same as the one for putting air in your tires) for this purpose also incorporated into the fuel rail, not far from the regulator.
