1982-1986 1994-2004 Ford Mustang 3.8L V6 engines.?

1982 to 1986 model year 3.8L V6 engines were either carbureted or CFI fuel injected, while 1994 to 2004 model year 3.8L V6 engines are SFI fuel injected engines which operate much more efficiently. About the only similarities between the two are the engine block itself. I'm not even certain that the specs and clearances are the same. But the cylinder heads, intake manifolds, timing covers, and engine controls are completely different. I would be satisified to say only the bore and stroke of the two are the same, as well as bellhousing bolt patterns. If your intent is to "upgrade" to the newer 3.8L engines, you will need EVERYTHING including the engine itself, as well as ALL the sensors and the PCM etc. Hope this helps.

The 2004 has electronic traction control. Which had to be turned off (via switch) to spin the tires.

The early ones had flat tappet hydraulic lifters and the later ones used hydraulic roller lifters. So the blocks are different.
What parts are you looking to interchange?
