How much would you expect to pay for a 1978 Ford Mustang?

We (my husband and I) have came across a 1978 Ford Mustang. It has all of it's original parts. It only needs to be restored. It has been sitting beside a garage for the last 5 years in neglect. The only parts that are outside is the car itself, covered with a tarp. The rest of the parts (engine, interior, ect. ) are in a covered trailor. Also my husband seems to think that there is a possibility that this car is a 1978 King Cobra. We were told that it is a 1976. But from what we have researched are pretty possitive that it is a 1978. And due to the fact that it has a 302 from the factory is what is making us belive that it is the King Cobra. My question is how much would you pay for this if it was your find?

I just sold a very nice King Cobra for $3k, so if it needs a lot of work, I wouldn't pay to much 500-1500

the 302 came out the second year 75. if it has side graphics, it's a Cobra II, the King had hood graphics and a front air dam

a good place to watch is Ebay.com Kings come up pretty often, that's where I sold mine

I would say no more then 1000. if you put money in to it you may just as well keep it. They don't have a high resell value even if it is in really great condition (I am seeing some one Hemmings for around 5000 is really nice condition) if it's going to be a show car do it. If your buying it just for bragging rights. Um... Find something else.

Between 750 and 1000 dollars would be a good price if everything is there. I Just now stopped and looked at a '76 4 cyl 4 speed that runs for $600!

if its a king in mint condition only $5500,think of the time and money to rebuild it,i would pass and find some thing else.or just buy it for $800.and try to sell it for $1500 and do nothing to it

I didnt like the way they felt driving down the road . You might want to sit behind the wheel and see if you feel cramped before buying it . You might want to pass and buy a model you feel better in.

Rule # 2 , you will spend atleast twice the money you think you will , does the motor and trans work ?

Have fun with it if thats the way you go. It sounds like you could buy it and resell it after you slaped all the parts back on and make a small profit.
