Guy selling a car sent me this letter. Will E-bay really hold the money until I get the car?

Hello,

This is a 1999 Ford Mustang COBRA, 8 Cyl, 4.6L, ONLY 89.000 Miles,
VIN 1FAFP47v1xf181959.
Here you can find more pictures with the car:
http://picasaweb.google.com/bulbierj...y=zjIGr-jB9Mo#
(if the above link does not work copy and paste it into a new web
browser window)
It is in EXCELLENT condition; the body and paint are great, no
scratches and no dents; the interior is clean; it has never been
involved in an accident.
I'm an US Air Force Col. currently stationed in UK and the car is here
with me. It was bought in the US and shipped to Europe, but it was
never permanently registered here, the car is still registered in the
US.
I must say that this is a US model car, with the steering wheel on the
left side, as opposed to a UK model, that has the steering wheel on
the right side.
As I'm unable to travel in the near future and I don't have anyone
back home to help me with the sale I decided to make this transaction
through eBay or craigslist.
So how this actually works? Simple: the buyer sends the payment to
eBay and they hold the money until the car is delivered; I ship the
car to US; I get my money only after the buyer receives the car and
makes sure everything is as agreed. I believe this protects both buyer
and seller and it's the right way to do this.
The final price is $4,200 including shipping from Europe to the US and
delivery to your home address.
So if you decide to buy this car or need further information please
get back to me as soon as possible.

Thank you and have a great day,
Col. John Bulbierr

SCAM SCAM SCAM

This is actually a fairly common scam that's been going around these days.

There are legitimate escrow services, which act as a third party to ensure both the money and the item are delivered to their respective parties.

Ebay and Craig's List do not, nor have they ever acted as an escrow service.

Short answer: Run away, FAST

be careful on this because even though all this looks legal it could be a scam,so many people these days are getting ripped off that i would be real leery of this deal, and i checked in to e-bay holding off on payment and couldn't find anything showing that they would actually do this, although it may be legal and a good deal its still something to be careful on,id check to see if such a person really exist, you can do that through military personal legally, good luck.

NO WAY! People from Craigslist, etc, use things like this all the time to screw people over. If it souds too good to be true, it almost always it. That car should retail from a private party anywhere from the lowest of 6,895 to 8,295, and real shipping of a car would be lots more onto that price. This is a scam, and the Col. thing is just to make it seem official. RUN WHILE YOU STILL CAN!
