NO its NOT just a "tricked out gt"
this applies to all 03/04 cobras btw.
the engine for starters is 4v 4.6L engine as compared to a 2v 4.6 in the gt. the heads are also dual cam meaning two cams per head as compared to one in the GT's 4.6's. it DOES have an eaton supercharger and was factory underrated at 390HP. the Gt came with 260HP it's a significant power difference. it also has independent rear suspension (IRS) so it corners noticeably better than a regular mustang of the era. it's also important to note that NO cobra mustang EVER came from the factory as an automatic. some people try to sneak cloned GT's onto unsuspecting customers. that said the 03/04 cobras are ALL 6-speed manual cars (T-56 transmission) vs the 5-speed manuals in the GT (TR-3650). these cars are also know as "Terminators"

In short, the SVT is a tricked out GT with a supercharger and other trick stuff! SVT stands for Special Vehicle Team. A performance department of Ford motor company. You may see older 1980's Mustang's called SVO for Special Vehicle Operations. It's the same department, they just changed the the name later on from Operations to Team.

Like I said, an SVT is a tricked out GT!

SVT stands for special vehicle team...and it just like the GT but with more bells and whistles...and a much bigger price tag...a SVT has a supercharger and a better this and a better that etc. so if your looking for power then go with the SVT if not then go with th GT hope this helped
