What is wrong with my Ford 2007 Mustang?

When I get in my car in the am hours and it is cold outside, my car will not go into gear. I have to fight with the gear shift to shift the car into drive. Sometimes, it will go into gear after it has warmed up a lil. I researched it a lil and the internet said something about a faulty shift interlock solenoid. Any suggestions on what is wrong with it? I am the only owner and I have never had any other problems out of the car, besides replacing a battery.

The gear shift might be frozen try oiling the gearshift or checking the transmission fluids.

We recently had this problem with a chevy malibu and the problem was the switch on the brake pedal has to send the signal to the shift selonoid that its ok to put the car in gear.If that switch is defective it wont let you shift. If you know a good mechanic it shouldnt cost much to fix.On the malibu the clip was bad that lets you adjust the switch and was about three dollars.Good luck and dont force the shifter as you could really damage something.

There is a little electric arm that retracks to
Let the shifter move it is activated when you
Hit the brake peddle there could be a fault
With the arm or it could be the brake position
Switch on the brake peddle or if something
Gas been spilled on your center console close to
The shifter it could have gummed up the
Electric arm it's best to have a dealer check it

Hi Baby Doll 1908,

I recommend you speak to your Ford dealer about this and have it diagnosed. Your Service Manager will be in the best position to assist you with this. He can also look at any possible warranty your vehicle may still have.

Check out this link: http://Owner.Ford.com/servlet/Conten...Page/HomePage# for available coupons and service discount you can use at the next maintenance appointment.

Happy Holidays!
