He does not prefer it because it's a V6 and not a V8. At one point I bet we were all like that too until we found out you can actually have fun modding a V6. lol

Americanmuscle.com is where I get most of my parts for my Mustang.

That's exactly right redstang19 . I dnt prefer it because it is a v6 and I want a v8. But once I get more familiar with driving a car I will drop in a v8. I eventually want to make it look like a cobra though and get around 500-600 hp out of it.

I've had a few cars with V8's in them before, one of them being an older foxbody. Now I have settled for my V6 mustang and I am seeing what I can do with it. I do plan on getting a 94 - 04 GT one day though. I've always said just have fun with what you got until you can get something else, when it comes to cars.

Good luck with that, generally you'll see N/A 99-04 GTs max out at 300-350 with full bolt ons and ported heads and cams....generally boosted 99-04 GTs max out at 350-400 before you need to start strengthening other components..that being said the 2v iron block engine in the 99-04 GTs will only handle 400-450 RWHP safety, which is roughly 500 hp to the crank, now that's double the stock HP but many still want more, your next step would be either swap a 4v 99-04 cobra/mach1 or a new forged block/rotating assembly, if your chasing 600 hp your best bet is to swap to a a cobra engine and upping the boost.

I was thinking the same, the 03 - 04 Cobra or Mach 1 engines are the best way to get close to 600 hp.

The 302 is a good engine it can handle high compression with ease compared to a lot of other engines.

You'll need everything to swap that motor in. The whole driveline, ECU and wiring harness' a fuel pump and lines, the exhaust, different engine mounts, the lower k-frame just to name a few, if its carburated you won't have to worry about the ECU at all. Don't think it will be just simple throw a V8 into that car, you have to know what you are getting and what you will need. I personally would just buy a Mustang with a V8 already in it, much cheaper.

My mom bought me the car for my birthday and I dont have a job yet so I can't buy another car right now. But my dad has had a few very powerful mustangs. But they just got a divorce so I don't spend that much time with him anymore. I am gonna try to see if he will help me later down the road with the engine swapping and what not.

Sorry about your parents, but yeah it would be easier to do a swap like this with someone who knows how to do it. I've done engine swaps before with cars that have V6's in them and dropping V8's in them and let me tell you it can be a real pain in the neck not knowing if you have the right stuff or not. If I were you, you could just keep driving around in that car and when you are making money save up for a GT or something in that time. It's your decision though.

I think to start off I will start making the car look nice like wheels, paint, and interior stuff then move to the motor and tranny maybe a year or two from now.

Well as the saying goes, if your car isn't fast you can make it look good instead.

Hey all is sixxers want an 8 but one thing I've learned, there will always be someone faster. Just learn how to drive and control the car before you get a higher horsepower car. Remember you're not ken block or John force. Great thing about the v6 is you can't really learn how to work on cars and can make them look realy good for cheap.

you got the car for free....so just enjoy it for what it is. wheels, visuals, and a nice exhaust and you'll be a happy camper for a long while. Believe me v8's can be over rated depending on how you drive it lol

i had a v6 for my first pony too, and i wasnt happy either. but let me tell you something, i ended up crashing that car on the highway at 85MPH. myself, my passenger, and the other driver walked away perfectly fine with no injuries cause i got god damn lucky. GTs have a lot of power and handle completely different than a V6 does. i drove that car for about 2 years before it was totaled in the recent colorado flooding. i used my insurance money to get the GT i have now, and theres no way i could have the control i do now over that car if i hadnt started with the 6. trust me, in a lot of situations driving a V8, you're gonna miss the ole' V6.

basically, drive the V6 for a while, get used to it, learn the car, know how it reacts to different things. THEN start adding in your power. these are powerful machines, and i cant tell you how many people i know that have died cause they couldnt handle their V8s.

be careful dude.
