The 4.95L Windsor IS the 5.0 as even today's 5.0 does not reach 5.0 liters, rather a 4.96 or so.
Close, the pushrod 5.0 was 4942 CC and the modular 5.0 is 4951 CC. The pushrod were 4.94 liters (rounds to 4.9) and the coyote is 4.95 liters (rounds to 5.0)

But both touted as 302s I believe.

WOW!

To think my original "stupid" question morphed into all this, where we are all LEARNING new things about the history of the Mustang (both Shelby and not).

Its GREAT for all of us to learn from everyone else's knowledges.

^That is what a forum is supposed to be about.

Not, "U lyke muh rimz?"

or, "How do I max out for 700HP and get 75 MPG on 4.88s".

hehe

Exactly my point.

There were some issues before where it became a "you should know that" type of thread, so I was just making reference that I was happy to see it back as it should be.

My 2003 Cobra is definitely not a Shelby.
2007-present Shelby GT500 is certainly not a Cobra.
1993-2004 Cobras are certainly not a Shelby or GT500.

I would not own my Cobra if it was a Shelby product.

Ford should not be sticking cobra trunk emblems and cobra side emblems on the Gt500 because the Gt500 has nothing to do with a reptile. Sticking Cobra emblems on a car that's named after a horse (Mustang) is silly period no matter what year or model. It's a freaking horse. Not a rooster, not a pig, not a tiger, not a eagle, not a snake. It's a Mustang, horse like creature. That's like calling a Mercury cougar, alligator model. Ford thunderbird, tiger model. The 03-04 terminators were and are some of baddest, no joke crazy horsepower cars around. SVT or not, reptile emblems have no business being on a car named from a horse. As stated before, Mustangs are not friends with snakes, especially Cobras. Mustangs and other breeds of horses have nothing to do with a Cobra snake so the fact it was even called that was and is stupid. You can't name a car Eagle Talon and then stick bunny rabbit emblems on it. Do you see rooster emblems of a WV bug. Noooooooooooo!

This 100% wrong. I hate to break it to you but the car is named after the P51 Mustang JET and looks like it. The horse was AFTER since it made sense as an emblem.

Additionally, the Mustang LOOKS like a Cobra now. The GT500 bumpers are intended to be fangs. Easy to pick up.

Shelby actually created the cobra moniker with his original Shelby cobra, which was previously an AC cobra, the car is a British car body with a ford power train.

So really Shelby invented "cobra" but the SVT cobra and the SVT Shelby are two wholly different cars. They actually have little to nothing in common.

Still wrong in his statement about the car being named after a Mustang. Also as for joking, if he really was trolling, Spamming a thread is more than likely against the rules. There is a section for non sense.

It's one thing to have fun, it's another act like a child. We all enjoy what we do and we like to be taken seriously when we are giving facts and correcting incorrect information. No one like to be ridiculed for being right and it's even worse when others make a mockery of facts and act like facts are stupid.

We all like to joke, just make it tasteful

Like it or not, I would say its safe to say that the "snake" logo has become an unofficial logo for Shelby (at least in the Mustang line). I would guess They needed something to have the GT500 stand out so they took the "snake". My Thoughts, but what do I know

True but everyone has a different sense of humor I guess! Some think its funny some say childish! But I never ridiculed anyone or though I was being disrespectful toward anyone!!

It's how they (03/04 cobras) came from the factory.

Marketing scheme because the only thing shelby about the gt500 is the badge. All gt500's were built on the line just like the v6 and gt models.

In 03/04 there was really no difference but the badge?
Seems like even in 03 that they wouldnt be able to get away with that.

Shelby would drive and offer advice and knowledge. I will admit he did nothing else but he played a pivotal role in factory modified cars in general. So, I wouldn't call it a marketing scheme since the car is easily the most affordable car for what you get, but definitely homage at best. Shelby did very little in the modern GT500s life cycle.

The Ford dealership salesmen would say different!

When I was at one a few months ago they were going into this speel that the Shelby's are made separately and that as each part gets put together the person signs their name.

Serious! From his mouth to my fingers typing this

Absolute crap. A quick Google search will show him different. It's built on the same assembly line as every Mazda was from 1987 to August 2012.

I know!

He then said the exact same thing about the ROUSH (3) (but not "at Shelby" as before) and points out a placard on the car.

I am just like, uh ha.... Your a fool

There are no drivetrain similarities between the gt and cobra lines. I would call 140 hp increase worth the title.

I was simply pointing out the pony in the grill was factory on the 03/04 cobra. Most people ask why I put a pony in the grill of my car.
