26 mpg I was expecting better....

I have a 13 gt mustang... With a 93 tune From steeda.. Went from Virginia to Indiana and I got 26 mpg. Now I guess I should not be complaining. But the mustang is rated at 26 mpg on the window sticker.i thought the tune would have given me a few more miles per gallon... Am I wrong for thinking that?

I think mine would hit that on the interstate. If I did 55, without a/c, and used cruise, and stripped out all unnecessary weight, and lost about 50lbs myself. Maybe, but even then I doubt it.

This 26 mpg was only interstate driving, even when I stopped to get gas, it would be right on the side of the high way, right on and right off...

Its your gears. If you still had the stock 2.73 then you should be getting a lot better.

Well, more power is more fuel. That being said, how fast were you driving? Stock wheels? And the MPG will vary up and down regularly with the slightest incline. 26MPG sounds fantastic to me.

I'm averaging 25.6mpg on the highway with my 2013 and it's stock except for the Roush exhaust. Cruise control at 65. I think that's pretty damn amazing for a 420hp V8. Lol

More power = more fuel for engines, or rpms?

On the highway to Columbus from Cleveland, 140 some miles, I got 35.9 mpg for in city and on highway to Columbus. Then C bus traffic took me down a bit. 34 something back.

I averaged 26-27 in my 93 at 82ish mph on the interstate. Does suck having 2.73s otherwise.

Agreed. Today I was doing 75-78, normally I don't go past 9 over, but the traffic was so dense and speeding, doing 9 over was impeding traffic lol. But because of this, There was a lot less wind resistance in the wolf packs (it seems).

Yea I felt I was lucky getting 25 mpg from Kentucky to Florida and back. But I'm also close to 500 hp at the flywheel and have very heavy wheels and 4951 CC is not a small engine and 3600 lbs is not light. 26 is very good

I get a little over 27 mpg with my '02 GT on the highway. I average 21.4 around town. The Five speed manual helps versus the automatic.

My 2013 V6 is only getting 20 avg.
I think my issue is how I drive it. (fast and hard)

With my Mustang in the shop I had to drive our Hybrid Camry to work the other day and driving it "like a hybrid" I got 42, however it was probably the most boring drive I have ever had.

I would rather get lower MPG and have fun driving.

Thats incredible. I love that technology is giving us the option of efficiency and power.

20 around town is about same for my 2013 V6. Would like higher of course but I would take the drop to go to GT (or higher) (yes I am a "pathetic" sixxer)

Only 26 mpg??? If my 99 cobra and fiancés 04 gt had over 20 mpg we'd be saving over 300 in gas every month :/

Lol, I might be interested. I can't go under 300hp now. After almost a year, I still love the power (I haven't gone through what other people do, needing more and more power), but want the this same fuel economy. Now, if they can make the 4 banger up to 300(now its at 250 I believe), and fuel economy goes up, that sounds good to me.

I'm averaging 27mpg right now, with mixture of around 40/60 city and highway. When I take a long trip to somewhere on the interstate or what not, I average around 29-30mpg going 76mph.

Shifting at 2k rpms has a lot to do with it and when I get heavy on the pedal, I can tell via my gas mileage.

More to do with ambient and flat roads.

Shifting at low RPM generally can be a gas depleter, not saver. If the engine labors more at a lower power point it will consume more fuel.

Depends a lot on engine load, throttle position, and length of time.

This further adds to the gist of what I am saying. So many factors that results will vary enormously.

What I do sometimes is to 1 to 3 at 3k rpm. Normally I shift at 2k but going an extra 1k rpm for a second is better than going through all of 2nd. And if I shift early to a low rpm I accelerate really slowly out of if so I don't big the engine and waste more gas.

I'd say that's some very good MPG in a GT. Hell my 3v 4.6 gets 24 in perfect conditions and I have an even smaller motor. A tune usually equals less mpg just because to make more power uou usually have to increase gas per cylinder at some point.
