Business Proposition/Idea

Hey guys,

As an entrepreneur and a mustang enthusiast I have an idea. I thought I'd share this with you guys to see how the feedback would be.

Basically I'm thinking of a website focusing on creating galleries of mustangs of people similar to the show/tell thread here. It would be mainly picture-based where people would look around and check-out others' mustang, give props etc.

An additional benefit (other than the easy way of checking out some of you guys's coolest creations) is that the site will feature each and every addition/modification done to the car. So if person A has a hood that people love/like, they'll have the link to find that product online. (Affiliate marketing could be an option).

What do you guys think? Something like Pinterest/Instagram for Mustangs in an organized space?

I know I said business but money definitely isn't the point here.

I just love some of the mustangs I've seen here and would love to see more/get more information on them and thought a website dedicated for this would be cool.

Constructive/negative feedback always welcome!

Thanks guys.

Thanks! I'm going to see it through if I have enough support. Possible Kickstarter? I think so!

If I were you I'd pitch the idea to American muscle since that's where most aftermarket mustang parts are from anyways

Also a good idea. I'll have to look into their corporate structure and see who would be the best to talk to about this.

I'm very new here but I've read your post and think its a brilliant idea, also if it could be categorized by regions. I live in nor Cal and have no way of knowing if anyone on here might be close by.
Good luck!

Thanks for all the feedback guys! I'll give you a little sneak-peak of what the site MIGHT (heavy emphasis here) look like.

Some information before going to the link. I've only chosen this template/look because I think it would really fit with the mustang community and also for its flexibility in regards to what was said here regarding regions and other methods of categorization!

This is what the website MIGHT look like. Obviously all the professional photography will be changed to our beautiful mustangs and all. But it should help you guys get the idea.

I'd love some feedback on this template as well as potential domain names that any creative members might have! (Perhaps a bonus to your profile when we launch the site? )

Could be. The template is quite 'different'. Were you also checking it out on your phone/tablet Lulu?

Let me know if you can access it when you get home from your computers. If not, I'll have to contact the designer for that website.

---------- Post added at 05:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:35 PM ----------

I'll make-up a short youtube video showing the website in the meanwhile so that you guys don't have to wait.

Have you ever heard of a site called Razzi? It is a photo sharing site that has Adsense so people that have an Adsense account (like me) could link their account and get a little money from views. I think it would be cool to have Adsense integration on it. That way you could make a little money and make the mustang better.

Have contest every month for different things, not just the best mustang but location shots and close ups and stuff.

Just one thing, don't make it where you have to be a "pro" member or any bs like that where you have to pay to do stuff.

Great idea!

I also agree with you're dislike towards "pro" memberships. I too feel they are unnecessary and that there are other ways of revenue-generation than this.

I've discussed this website with American Muscle and found out that they do not have an affiliate marketing program (which would've been ideal) but nonetheless something of potential might spring up depending on the progression of this website.

I DO plan on implementing ads, but they will be very minimal. I hate those flashy ads that are seemingly on every website these days.

But once again, the point here for me is not to make money.

I love Mustangs. I love seeing other people's mustangs and how they treat it. That's it.

Oh and interesting note. I AM able to access the website with my iPhone and iPad, so I'm not sure whats going on, on your end.

Albeit, the template (as it stands now) is definitely not optimized for mobile viewing which will definitely be implemented.

In the meantime, anyone have any cool/creative ideas for domain names?

Whatever I think of, I feel are cheesy.

Mymustang.com (unavailable), MustangCentral.com (unavailable), MustangConnect.com (available) etc.

I like mustang connect or even mustang connections. That's the goal right? To connect us mustang owners . I don't think it's cheesy (

You should have ads and you should make money! Your time is worth money and nobody should work for free!

I hate yahoo with those damn ads that pop up on the web page and take over.

Thanks man. I agree with the yahoo ads.

If I decide to have ads they will be minimal I think. I really want to go against the grain here.

I really like the idea. In addition to the features you already mentioned, I'd like to see a link to installation videos, PDFs etc. both manufacturer, and the usually better ones from actual owners. I just did some mods and without those videos I would have had an even harder time installing them. There are so many ideas you can't miss. Great idea, I will definitely make use of it.

Nice! It'll be cool to have a website focused only on buying and selling any year or type of mustang parts from other members

Yea that's a cool idea but there's always someone who will rip off and steal from another member and ruin it for everyone else :/

Oh man, I had another good idea when you brought up the ripping off/stealing of money on ME.

I have created a 'holding account' for this website. Basically, I or this account will me the mediator on sales made through the website.

1-) Buyer will send Shipping and Item cost to the holding account.
2-) Holding account will verify funds and notify the SELLER of the funds.
3-) The seller will then ship the item.
4-) When the BUYER receieves the item.
5-) BUYER verifies the state of item is as described and gives the "go-ahaed" for funds to be released.
6-) Funds are then transferred to the SELLERS account.

Obviously getting paid will take a little longer here but at least you'll have the insurance that you won't pay until you get your item.

There will have to be some strict rules on what grounds an item may be considered incorrect or faulty. These details will have to be worked out in the future.

What do you guys think?
