Why? All the fastest drag cars are Autos. I know the Boss can do the twisties pretty well though, in that case, yes it should be manual.

No, there wasn't. All Cobras are sticks, all Bullitts are sticks, Machs could be both. And yes most ppl wanted the Mach in a stick.

Where do you live and how many clean Auto Machs could there possibly be for sale at any given time? And if there are I'd like to come see because I'd love to own a clean low mileage 04 Auto Mach that was not upwards of $20k...

Should have listed it nationally if it was really nice. A good low mileage automatic Mach is a rare find these days and a lot of older ppl or ppl with knee problems have only the Mach as their 4V fix that came with an automatic from the showroom. Or some ppl just prefer them or want to build the car up for a straight line street monster.

I remember when I had my '02 GT I was reading an article about the upcoming Mach 1 and was confused that they would have that variance for the engine solely based on transmission choice. I can't seem to find an article link on it, but here's another forum where they mention that difference.

How big is the difference in Mach 1 engines? | Mustang Forums at StangNet
The whole "forged" crank think just makes me laugh. That cast crank is good for double the power of what the rods in that motor can handle. AFIAK, Ford went with the cast crank so it could use the 6 bolt flexplates the GTs used and save money not having to pay to make a small run of 8 bolt flexplates ala the 99/00 automatics.

Also to all you auto bashers, maybe actually go to a serious 1/4 track at some point and take a look at how many stick cars there are to automatic cars in the 9/10 second range. Hell a tuned Mach1 automatic and a nice 2800-3500rpm stall converter will eat up the exact same car in stick shift configuration. If we are talking road racing/autox then the roles are reversed.

And back on topic... as far as the stupidest thing someone has ever said to me about my car... I once had a guy tell me that my 95 Cobra was a modular and when I said no it was a 5.0 he said that it was a nice swap and when I told him "no it came that way" he swore that only the foxes were 5.0s...

Had a guy recently ask me if my 98 was brand new which I also listed as one of the nicest things someone has ever said about my car. Dude looked 70 years old and I would not expect him to know but it still does not look like anything made in the last 15 years.

And then there were the endless "is that a real Cobra?" that I got about the 95 as well. Damn you Ford for not making it more blatantly obvious that a Cobra was a Cobra until 1996... sigh...

And in my 1/4th track there is mainly stick shift cars. Mostly cobras, 5.0's, Mach 1's, and some old school muscle. Mainly all standard and try did get 9's and 8's. Oh2freshstang's '13 auto V6 almost got into the 8's. not bashing autos, I drive an auto.

Gotta give her some credit man, at least she knew it was one of the higher performance mustangs.. at least she didn't ask you if it was an SS or SRT.
I still have a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that the gt500ss's are the only real modern cobras..

Today on the way to church a cobra R passed me and went into the ditch jumped it and spun out and lucky they were alright. I think they were either drunk or texting.

Did you tell him it was a 4.sex? Lol anyone who says "5.slow" is just mad that their motor costs triple to build vs a 5.0 haha

I talked to guy a couple of days ago that had a 2005 V-6 Mustang with goofy Cobra emblems stuck all over it. He came over and looked at my Mach 1 and said, "Nice Mach, but I'd rather have a Cobra." I just had to bite, so I said, "So, when did Shelby start making 6-cylinder Cobras?" He replied, "Dude, you don't know sh**. Shelby makes the GT 500 V-8 ones, but Ford makes the hot V-6 Cobras." Uh huh..... Here's you sign-

No, but I think he sensed that my BS meter was pegging. He left the gas station in a hurry, then the BEST part happened. He revved it up and attempted to spin the tire, but it just grabbed and stalled. PRICELESS!

You're talking about the Shelby's. they carry the cobra badge and no ford emblem because they are specially made by Shelby and SVT has some influence as well the cobra badge on the Shelby is the SVT legacy it carries

It's kinda like AMG is to Mercedes or M is to BMW. We could even throw in SRT from Chrysler and it's subsidiaries.

I was at 7 -11 the other day and a chick that worked there asked me if I was driving a Ferrari as she looked out the window , I told her I wanted some gas and prepaid for it
I laughed and said no it's a S197 and she was like ???? Then I felt bad and told her it was a Mustang GT and she said well I never saw a Mustang that looked like that and I replied well it's custom and she said that's the nicest car I have ever seen and I said thanks and I walked out. People compliment me on my car all the time , it's pretty cool. She is sweet.
