Haha my thoughts exactly. One does not simply do that amount of research without serious intentions.

This comment is not about mustangs, but it is about the dumbest thing I've heard about a car in a long time. So I'm at work busting on one of my multiple bosses about finally getting rid of his 20 year old Volvo. He was driving a new Volvo s60, and started talking about how fast it was. He proclaimed that it could do 0-60 in 1 second. I called him on his BS and he replied that I knew nothing about cars because this car came from Europe. I have to add that he is not an American, so hence the bafoonary.

The new Volvo s60. the "s" stands for 0-0 in one second. Oh wait, or is that the new Volvo s0... (who cares... it sounds like a guy with an ovary owns it) LOL

Tell him the European model is the one that does it in 1 second. And unless it's imported, he got ripped off.

"Oh you have a mustang? They'll probably stop making muscle cars soon."
"Why?"
"Because of the EPA and emissions laws that are getting stricter. I'm not really even sure why they ever built them..."
"Well, my Mustang does get pretty good gas mileage."
"Oh I'm sure. What's it get? 10?"
"31 actually...what do you drive?"
"A Volvo."
"And what has mileage does it get?"
"22."
"So......."

I can't STAND non-car people.

The 1989 hatchback version of the Civic 1.5L has a maximum torque of 82 at 4,200 RPM. Horsepower for the engine measures 70 ft-lb. at 4,500 RPM.

The stock 1995 Ford Mustang Cobra was powered by a 240 horsepower 5.0L V-8

But that 70hp monster only weighed in at 2100lbs.

That's an 89 Honda. How dare you.

Had a kid my age or younger (early 20s probably) in an early 2000's beat up Silverado jaw at me at stoplight. He asked me about my car in a way that he almost sounded interested but really just wanted to talk about himself, and from the way he talked about it after I told him how much power I made, seemed like he was lying in order to 1-up me. Said "Yeah that's cool and all. I got me an 'Oh-14' Roush stage 3" told me to give it some gas when the light turned, and then he drove off.

One. If you're in your early 20s, you probably don't have an RS3 because you're a broke college student. Two. If your parents paid for it, you wouldn't be driving a crappy Silverado on a perfect day like today. Three. If you have an RS3, you either ONLY talk about it or you're humble enough not to mention it when talking to a feeble base-GT owner. That's just me being judgmental though.

And he wouldn't need you to give it gas when the light turns green cause he would have done that himself a thousand times.

In my town there is 22 year old that has a 2014 rs3 white and blue, that he is paying on, he only drives it on really nice days . So it's not impossible but he was probably lying.

That's my favorite one of all time that I get told on a constant basis. Last time I checked, it bears the Mustang name...made by the Ford Motor co...doesn't get any more real than that!

I've heard this one before, especially since I have an auto instead of a manual.

At a McD's drive thru, the lady at the first window says, "Is this a new Charger?" No maam, it is a new Mustang. Then she says, " Boy, they make these things rumble now don't they? I can feel it vibrating in here. I like that!" Now my GT has an O/R x and Flowmaster A/Bs, so it makes a little noise. But when she said that, I just looked at my wife and we both started laughing.

"Is that a Cobra?" When looking at my stock 2012 GT. My reply was "I wish".

Granted, not all that stupid, but my car has base 18" wheels and looks nothing like the mighty Cobra. The dude was genuinly interested in my Mustang though, so it was sorta flattering.

Some guy the other day at the store asked how much down force my spoilers are making. I told him that i did not have a spoiler, but he refused to believe me and said that I have six of them on the back of my car. I didn't have a clue what he was talking about until I left and as soon as I realized he was talking about the louvers I about had a crash from laughing so hard.

On my way up to a weekend long car show, I stopped in janesville Wisconsin to fill up. It's about 90 miles from my house, And it was a mix of city, and Rural country road driving.

I get out of the car and start up the pump. 93 octane; Purified liquid dinosaur. Some guy in a big *** lifted chevy is in the pump in front of me, and he says, "Gotta shut that baby off to keep up with the pump, Huh?" I was like, No believe it or not, it took me about a quarter tank to get up here from the Chicago Suburbs. And he laughed and said, "YOU LYIN' BASTARD!" That gave me a giggle. So he starts askin me about the car. Didn't know a whole lot about mustangs, but was generally interested. Then he asks me, "Hey, what do you got in this thing? You got pistons in it?" Meaning forged internals, obviously. But just to mess with the guy, I turn to him and say with the straightest face possible and say, "Buddy, I sure as hell hope so." Gotta love it when you get compliments before you even get to the show.

This wasn't really about my car, but I had to share. My dad is not mechanically inclined at all. He knows how to do a tune-up and that's about it. Back in high school, I made payments to a friend and eventually purchased a complete engine for my/his/our (it was his when he was angry, it was mine when something broke) 1988 Camaro base auto. It was a carb'd 355 meant to replace the throttle body injected boat anchor of a 305 it had at the time. He was asking me if it was a short block or a long block and getting genuinely angry when I kept telling him that it was a complete engine from pan to carburetor.

As it turned out, his definition of short and long blocks was that short blocks were built for speed and horsepower, while long blocks were built more for torque and towing. My 17 year old self had a good long laugh over that.
