Hey, a body kit alone counts for at least 100hp.

I had a kid last weekend at the gas station in a subbie tell me my car exhaust sounded great (good so far he is right )... then he asked is that was to compensate for how slow it was. Said he was stock and could run circles around me. Asked him if he was just an idiot or only dumb when it came to cars.

If he was in a stock STI he might have. WRX would be close but if it's just a crappy Lancer or Legacy, ppffffft.

Huh? Stock for stock, the v6 is very comparable performance wise to the STi. Really, the 12k extra on the Subaru is too much for being a hair faster, worse braking and worse road grip- my opinion, though.

Worse grip? RWD vs AWD and the STI is a smidgen lighter, slightly more power.

Plus being a stock turbo car, and a cult following the aftermarket is very robust

A stock STI is going to out handle a stock V6 Mustang with equal drivers. You are talking a performance model vs a base model.

Alsos AWD and RWD both have their pros and cons. Neither is ultimately better than the other with gripping the road. Its all in how you drive.

Really? I mean I have off the lined a few times against them and had no issues other than once I lost all grip before suspension upgrades. They run about a 5 sec 0-60 and like 13.5 or 14 1/4. For what it is worth I think it was a 2011 or 2012... was an STI though

Ahh well a 2011 seems to be a tad bit slower. I was thinking of the 2009-10. Here's an article about them with those stats it's very comparable to our V6 then.

http://m.caranddriver.com/reviews/su...-wrx-sti-drive

That being said, it's hard to find an actual stock wrx/sti but who knows.

Anyway /end thread jack lol

Sorry, grip to me isn't just talk, its a skid pad number. The posted numbers I read said v6 Mustang was better than the STi. I LOVE them, and can explain the difference between STi and STI, but not only are they comparable performance wise disregarding price, adding a 10k+ premium puts the Subaru way behind. I'll pull some sources.

Ahh, well no need to pull anything. Keep in mind power for the STi comes on full blast later in the rev range, and there are higher losses with an AWD system. I am not saying the Mustang SLAUGHTERS it, rather they are very close- both have pros, and even those pros just edge out the other. The only difference with a clear winner is fuel economy and price. One wins both of those...guess which one I bought lol

(Seriously, I have been very close to getting an Impreza several times- a used base when I was younger, and STis when I was looking for my current car. If it was more fuel efficient and I could get a new 07/08 STi, I'd be posting on a different forum and not caring about the extra 10k.)

I've been able to drive my buddies WRX (older one 2004/5?) and the butt dyno would be a close race but boy what a fun car to drive. It had way more feel than my Stang, but it's priced in the V8 range. If it cost the same as my V6 it would be a tough call. I was looking for made in USA and prefer the simplicity of non-turbo but dang, they're a fun car.
