I drove my first mustang in the winter but I was younger, stupid and didn't have a choice lol. A lot of people the past couple years around where I live are driving camaros stangs and challengers through the winter, I think it's ridiculous. Even if you don't crash it your ruining your car with the salt.

Whats the stupidest thing someone said about your car?

i see a few stangs during the winter, but no camaros or challengers
maybe if i had winter tires.
oh yeah, the salt & ice is torture too omg
i tried to back mine out of the driveway last winter, so the ice could melt a bit, & with my slick tires, i could barely move lol

Same in my area. Then I realized these folks don't have the luxury of owning more then one car. Sorry that is a luxury I pay to have and it is worth it. Don't care how much the change these vehicles get in driving stability. Extreme wet weather and salt is a no go for me.

^ Agreed. I'd take a GT500 Super Snake over any other car, if cost was not an issue.

Whats the stupidest thing someone said about your car?

I'd take a certain 89 Porsche Slantnose over anything. But a Shelby 1000 or even a Super Snake would be a badass car to have. I'd be more interested in a 07-09 Super Snake personally.

I daily drive mine right through NH Winter. Why not? Rear wheel drive? Ok, 90% of police cars, the Crown Vic up until recent years, had to get around up here. What about living here before front wheel drive cars? How did they stay on the road and not explode? OMG!?
Ok, there's snow and salt. If you take the slightest interest in grooming your car through Winter, your frame won't rust and fall off I promise.
Here's mine in the middle of last Winter.... And the following post is today. Looks and drives good to me.

"I bet a v6 stang will take your 4cylinder" I drive a ecoboost by the way. That guy clearly didnt know what these ecoboost pack. The funniest part was his reason for saying Ima loose was because I had less cylinders lol

The same kind who drive and ride in rusting, beat up 4 X 4 Toyota trucks from the early 90s that have their own unique "aftermarket aerodynamic aids" -A.K.A. "dents"- and four different styles of wheel, each shod with a different make, model, and size of tire, apparently, and who also have nothing better to do on a Tuesday night than loiter in a gas station / convenience store parking lot.

I parked next to one of these kinds of vehicles in a gas station / convenience store tonight. Here's a transcript of the conversation that followed.

Dude One, Behind Wheel: "Did you just revv up before shutting it off? That was gay."

Me: "Yeah. I revved. And yeah, doing that was gay."

Dude Two, Front Passenger Seat. "1999 to 2004, right?"

Me: "Yeah. It's a '99."

Dude Two: "That's not a 3.8, is it?"

Me: "It's a 3.8"

Dude Two: "Really? It doesn't sound like a 3.8."

Dude Three, squished in the back of the extended cab: "I've got a Chevelle with a 383 that could take that."

Me: "I would hope so. Otherwise there would probably be something wrong with your car."

Dude One: "Mustangs are gay."

Me: "Says the guy behind the wheel of a relic from 'Brokeback Mountain' with his two closest personal MALE friends along for the ride, to the guy whose passenger seat is covered with 112 pounds worth of blonde, high-breasted, Estonian exchange student college co-ed......."

Dude Three: "Yeah, well, I've got a Chevelle with a 383 that could take that."

Me: "I'm sure it could. On a drag strip."

Dude Three: "Not just there, on the street, too."

Me: "Not with me driving."

Dude Three: "That wouldn't make any effin' difference. You ain't so good that my Chevelle wouldn't beat your p*** V6 Mustang on the street or anywhere else."

Me: "You're right. I'm not that great of a drag racer. I'm also not that stupid. I have the kind of job -you know, that sort of thing that productive members of society do where they go to a place and do some work and get paid for it- that I could get fired from if I got caught street racing."

Dude Three: "Yeah, you're a p****, too, letting people 'dis' your ride."

Me: "At least I'm not the kind of guy who'd go running to the doctor for a prescription for little blue pills just because some twerp in a riced-out Civic on laughing gas might have gotten across a controlled intersection faster than I could in in some 60s vintage V8 powered barge."

Dudes One and Two Laugh

Me: "And I'm also not the one hanging out in a convenience-store parking lot on a Tuesday night with my MALE friends and nothing else better to do, which would suggest to any reasonable person that I'm a long, long way off from needing any kind of male enhancement, whether from little blue pills, or some car I'm talking about but not actually driving.

Dude Three: "You wouldn't say that to my face if I weren't stuck in the back here like this."

Me: "Sure I would. And I'm sure your friends would be more than happy to let you out so you can see for yourself. What makes you think I wouldn't?"

Dude Three: "Because you're letting me 'dis' your ride. Only a p**** would do that."

Me: "I thought I was simply agreeing with you that your Chevelle with a 383 could take my weenie little 3.8 Mustang in a drag race. No reason not to agree. Because I don't give a **** if it could or it couldn't. And I don't give a **** because I'm not a drag racer, never have been, never will be. And as for your 'dissing' of my ride goes, I really don't give a flying f*** about that, either. Like I said, I'm not the one wasting a Tuesday night loitering around in a parking lot with my boyfriends, talking about a car I'm not even driving. But if you really want to see how slow your Chevelle can be compared to my gay Mustang, how about you meet me at Hallett Motorsports Park some day, and we'll see which one goes around the course there the fastest? And just to make things a little more fair, I'll ride in the passenger seat of mine and let my girlfriend here do the driving. That way, you'll not only know what it feels like to get beat in a race on a real race track, and what it feels like to get beat by a gay car, but you'll also get to experience what it feels like to get beat by a girl behind the wheel of the car you think is gay. And when that happens, and it will, what would that make you and your Chevelle?"

Dude Three: "I can't do that right now, 'cause my car overheats bad on long trips and I don't know why."

Me; "It must really suck to have such an awesome car and not be able to actually drive it anywhere. You, Sir, have my sincerest sympathy. You guys have a nice night....."

This sort of thing is really the only downside to Mustang ownership. I'm on my third one and had the same kinds of encounters with total strangers when I had my '66 GT and when I had my '92 LX 5.0 back in the day, when it was new. And I get it now with my weenie 3.8 powered autocross car.

I don't recall any other "enthusiast car" I've had engendering that same kind of unsolicited hate and envy. Not the '70 LT Stingray. Not the '70 AAR 'Cuda I had before that. Not the Porsche I drove for 18 years. Not the Trans AM I had.... But Mustangs? For some reason, they seem to be magnets for jack-wagons. The people that OWN them are usually cool, mellow, normal, well-adjusted folks. The people who don't own them but feel compelled to hate on them? Different story there.....

I was driving my 99 cobra about 2 weeks after I got it:

Some dude is riding my *** and driving like a total ******.. I just ignored him.

he pulls up next to me at the stop light and yells "YEAH FAKE COBRAAA. SWEET MAN!!" (He was driving early 2000s explorer. Some girl was in passenger seat)

I looked at him and said "Its not a fake cobra"

Him- "yeah it is kid the real cobras say "COBRA" on the rear bumper"
Me- "Its a 99, they did not say cobra on the bumpers"
Him- "Ohhhhh gotcha I was thinkin Termis.."
Me- "Yeah gotta watch your mouth a little closer when you don't know what you're talking about"

his girl- smirk* (she knew he was a dumbass)

Someone told me today that I shouldn't use Heet in my fuel for the winter because "it froze in their filler neck and clogged it. Heet is 99% methanol. Methanol freezes at -143℉!

Very true just his boldness with the situation kinda had me wondering why he was so confident but after talking to the guy idk if that was the situation. Nice guy but I think I could take him on the track
