This is my case but as I see more and more aftermarket stuff... I dunno, I love my 98 but seeing a few VERY tastefully modded S197s is changing my mind. I know its no 5.0 but they aren't exactly slouches either. I personally think they look terrible in stock form but with the right exterior mods they look sick. Also the interior is light years ahead of the SN95/New Edge...

Well for me it's a little different I loved the 05-09 S197s more than any other at the time. I felt the same about the Fox it wasn't my favorite but with the right mods they grow on you..

I love them and with some mods it a great car. I own a new 5.0 now and that thing is beast but my 06 will always be in my mind. Here is a pic kinda old but the only one I have right now.

I just have to do more research on them too. I think I'm just looking at them harder now because I'm discouraged about all the kid racers in SN95s/New Edges now (which will start happening to the 05-up cars soon enough). I will probably get a 05-up when I have room for a second car in a 2 car garage when we move. One of my requirements when we get out of our starter house is going to be a multiple car, preferably separate garage. Would love to have my SN95, a 3V 05-09 and then maybe a new/newer 300+hp V6 as a DD. Guys gotta have goals right?

That's another thing, my 98 GT costs me literally $20/mo to insure. I can imagine a newer GT especially with a payment is going to be at least $80-$100/mo full coverage even with being 30, married, 0 points and 0 accidents.

Also I own my 98 and would like to be down to 1 car payment this time next year.

I never hated the body style but I didn't specifically like it until I found mine. I decided it was the one. whose all "tastefully modded" 05-09s you like??

I like the way they look when the stock front "smiley face" spoiler is replaced with something more agressive, Coyote wheel/tire setup, lowered, ducktail/saleen spoiler, Shelby 1/4 window louvres and the retro headlights that get rid of the lens and make it look like a 67/68 Mustang headlight. I also like when the foglights are moved to the center of the grille. Kinda specific actually lol... Not an Eleanor clone although I do like alot of the elements of that look. Just not my cup of tea to clone something out of a movie with no personal touch.

So lets assume ceteris paribus (with other things the same) I.e your driving record, policy limits,etc.., and you get an 09 GT Premium so that has ABS, TC, ESC, and side airbags as primary safety features

I'm making an educated guess your premium would go up to around 50-60 a month my V6 costs 342 every 6 the GT was on about $80 more per year

See, that is one that makes me think the 05-09s look good vs the seemingly millions of stock V6s and unmodified GTs running around. Not trying to knock on a stock car, I just personally think that they need some exterior mods to look... "right"... That silver one looks nice and aggressive and not like its happy to see you.

Only the ones without a V8....I think the only Mustangs I don't like are the Late 1970's and early 80's Mustangs....Of course all the cars from that time are crap but that's just my

I'm kind of the opposite, I love the look of the 05-09 and think the NEs look kind of bland and ugly stock, but given a few exterior mods they look down right sexy.

Gotta love the S197s, tho I only see them in stock form such a shame cause they're beast looking when modded an who needs a 5.0 when my 4.6 is faster

Honestly IMO you can get a 05-09 if you like the retro looking stang for sometimes under half of a 5.0 and make it how you want and faster than the 5.0L but that's really the case with any latemodel Mustang. Spend $6k for a really nice SN95/NE and drop $10k on the drivetrain and obliterate just about anything for half the price of a new 5.0L. The new 5.0s are GREAT for guys who don't want to or don't know how to wrench on their stuff and just want to go fast and look great doing it.

I agree with you. I think bone stock ones look a bit plain but with a few mods they can look great. I'm sure I'm biased since I have one but I love the way it looks. I never thought I'd get one until a few years ago and they grew on me fast after a car show that I saw a few that were very tastefully done.

I've posted those multiple times but figure they are relevant. I need to get some new ones since I put the taillight, 3rd brake light, and marker light tint on and plasti dipped the center of the chin spoiler.

Since the Mustang II I had no interest in Mustangs at all. The in 05 I really thought the retro look was clean. I bought a 09 GT and loved it, then I stumbled on a 09 GT500 and I just couldn't pass on the deal. I really began liking Mustangs when the went retro.

I was kinda torn on the almost throwback look but yeah, seeing her outside, the lines of the car are amazing. To me, the only thing I'd change it the rears of the new ones are probably the best to me since the 60's, maybe ever. Other than that, I love my car.

I don have any model lol. I just need a stalker kit on a fox and my 97 I had, had a Saleen kit on it.

When they first came out in 05, I loved them. Then I fell partial to the new edge cause I saw some S197s that had appearance mods and then seein them in stock form just didn't appeal to me.
Ford should have lowered the stock ride height, more aggressive tire, stock front splitter. Until those things are done, they are just another Stang and don't stand out from the rest, unless it is a sleeper of course.
