Means it wasnt just a bump up, the insurance labeled it as totaled and its extremely hard to sell, only use salvage as a parts car or you'll have nothing but problems. I had one of my own and it was "rebuilt and perfect now" its b.s
Walk away

+1. It means the car is ready for the salvage yard. Don't mean it can't be fixed sometimes, definitely means it has major issues that in most cases means it will cost more than the car is worth to repair. If the frames bent, forget it. I've been told by frame specialists that once they are bent, u can straighten them back to factory specs but they will never be the same.

Insurance company's will total a vehicle if the damage exceeds 80% of the (insert your favorite value guide here) value of the car. It largely depends on how old the vehicle was at the time as to the extent of the damage. Ive seen older vehicles recieve salvage titles after being in very minor accidents. Personally though, Id stay away from it...

Got insurance on my 99 cobra with no problem. Car fax stated a tree impact in 2010 I bought it in 2011. They must have made the frame perfect because there is no damage and as far as motor compartment. Original engine still from factory. Only thing I had to replace was trans cause some guy taught his wife how to drive in it and ruined trans. Other than that car is perfect IMO
