WTH!

I bought a black billet aluminum fuel door from American muscle last month and it's been on my car for a little over 2 weeks and the damn thing went from black to gold color. It's never been sprayed with anything. Has anyone seen this happen to their fuel door?

No it sits out side but it's under a parking shade so it really doesn't get much direct sunlight

Ntbruncie,

Wow, it changed to goldish in 2 weeks? There must have been a flaw in the anodized coating..

I see you've already contacted one of our Mustang Experts. However, if you don't want to wait until August to get a new fuel door, I'd be happy to setup a return and completely refund you.

Let me know what you want to do!

Shane

Thanks. They did say they could get me the shr black fuel door but idk that I like the look its different and I'm afraid that if I were to go with the silver mmd door I might no like it as much as the black so I guess I'm stuck waiting for the new one to come in.

Just information....my daughter purchased the same fuel door and it changed colors also. Didn't even take 2 weeks. AM was great a out it tho, they asked for pictures then sent her a new one and told her to send the old one back when she could. Just a case of bad anodizing is all.

After talking to my New Products Team, they did say there's a chemical adjustment to the new anodized finishes in the next batch. We were getting some random issues, like yours out of the last one, so they made some adjustments with the manufacturer.

That being said, if you change your mind about waiting, jet let me know. I'll have a return/refund setup ASAP!

Shane
