In manual Machs. In automatic machs the crank is cast iron. Not forged like the manual. Why?! I have no clue.

You've got it backwards. The manuals have the forged cranks and the autos have the cast crank.

They [people from Ford] believed that the people who owned the manuals would race them more giving them a forged crank resulting in a higher redline.

Crap man get that thing for $3k, go there with a wad of cash and be like "here is money". Money talks. Hell even if you just fix it up, get keys for it and detail it out you could probably make $10k off flipping it.

Also looks like it comes with a free drink so that is a complete win in my book!

Oh, and as far as the crank it was probably a combination of a higher redline and the cast crank (while strong) should be kept around 6500 RPM and also going to a 6 bolt cast crank meant that they would not have to worry about a very limited run of 8 bolt flexplates.

edit: Also you don't just go to XYZ country because of family and leave a $15k automobile sitting on the side of the road. Old boy got the hell out of dodge lol.
