any get annoyed with manual trans?

I'm on vacation at Myrtle Beach, NC and sick of how traffic moves. Literally by inches at a time. Shifting constantly gets SUPER annoying after moving only a few feet at a time. Anyone else get annoyed with there manual transmission?

It's just that an auto is so much more practical. It can also give better performance with shift kits, tunes, etc. For instance, my dad and I got some pizza hut the other day in his single cab truck. It was a box deal and had a huge box. It was so big it was in the way of his shifter (auto). It would've been impossible or at least utterly annoying if his truck was a manual.

Nothing like rowing through the gears in a stang. I'd never buy a slushbox in a mustang, but that's just me

sometimes I do, but it's because I live in myrtle beach and traffic at times is a pita and moves so slow. yesterday after work traffic moved a mile in a half hour when my commute home is around 5 miles. but I wouldn't trade it for the world, nothing better then running through the gears of a mustang!

So with that logic, what about the cobra jet? Are we supposed to disown one of the baddest stangs ever made because its a auto. And you guys can't make a exception because its a drag car. This is all or nothing. There's manual cars running the same times as the auto CJ, it's just there for consistency.

Ha! You got jokes but for real tho I love my auto going down to pcb fl during spring break, I don't have to worry about shifting all the time, I got cruise control going on highways and burn outs are the best two feet for two pedals

I have avoided areas with heavy traffic but I'm sure I'll experience it soon enough.. the only thing that annoys me about my manual transmission is my crappy shifting sometimes..

I love manual trans. I was kinda iffy on it until I got one. Now that I have one, I wouldn't ever go back to an auto. ( at least in a sports car ) don't get me wrong.. Manual in traffic can suck but when it's not in traffic it's just a lot more fun. I enjoy it and don't believe in sports cars being automatic (but that's just my personal opinion) as long as I own a sports car.. It will be a manual.

I have a manual trans in mine and I love it! The only thing I don't like is the skip shift, but that's soon to be erased with a tune.

I stll prefer auto because like I said, with the right tune/kit, it shifts better than a human can.

i love my stick shift. its a huge bonus to the mustang with me. after i learned how to drive it and really got it down with my shift points and everything its just second nature to me. i hate driving my gfs car just because its an auto. i routinely finding myself trying to shift or looking for the clutch haha. traffic isnt bad really usually i just coast unless im on a hill (sucks so much!)

Yes actually, shifting is fun but traffic or missing a shift (happens to the best of us) sucks. Also for ppl like me with knee issues its kind of necessary to go auto. I'm likely going to be selling my manual trans car and then looking for a super nice auto soon. With a j-mod/stall/tune and the shift points customized an Auto can be really nasty. Or install a manual valve body for the best of both worlds.

They're only "slushboxes" in stock form. A stalled 4R trans with a J-mod/shift kit will come off the line harder than any stick and bark the tires in 2nd/3rd every time.

Then why are all the fastest cars at the 1/4 track autos?

This most of all, if you love a manual you love a manual, if you'd rather have auto then that's up to you. I just get annoyed at the whole "auto mustang lol" mentailty from ppl who have obviously never been to a 1/4 track or ridden in a stalled auto. There is a reason 9/10 serious quarter mile cars are autos. No stick shift can come off the line like a properly setup auto and that is just fact. No auto can go around corners like a stick shift car can and that's also fact which is why just about EVERY serious autox/road racer is a stick shift.

Myrtle Beach South Carolina.
I'm 53 with plenty of experience with manual transmissions. I love automatics. I have no desire to clutch ever again. But I respect those that shift. In a Corolla, it sucks eggs, but a good stang and it's probably fun as all get out. But I'll let the tranny do the work now. Might be an age thing, dunno. In fact I'm excited as motorcycles are finally coming around to automatics. About time.

I like a Sea Doo, just throttle and hang on to your bologna. My buddy had a Supercharged one for awhile and it would do 70 on the lake. There was a kit you could buy for it that would make it go even faster but he didn't get it.

No doubt! Wherever I live, I want to go someplace different for a vacation. If I moved there, it would be the norm and I'd want to vacation elsewhere. But Hungry Howie's, Sticky Fingers, Krispy Kreme, wow. I love my trips there for Bike Week.
