Yes, you want to do the pull in the gear with the ratio closest to 1:1. Doing it in the wrong gear can definitely change the results.

What gear would you suggest for a .373?

Rear gear doesn't matter. It's the trans gearing that matters. Assuming you have a manual since you have 3.73 it's 5th gear on our cars which is 1:1. On just about every mustang before 2011 it was usually 4th gear so most places you dyno at who aren't super familiar with these will prob dyno it in 4th. Just make sure to tell them to do it in 5th for optimal results.

Yeah, those numbers are going to be a little low. You want to do the pulls as close to 1:1 as you can get. In the 2011+ manual cars the pulls should be in 5th gear! Those numbers are actually really impressive for a car with just an x-pipe and a tune for a 4th gear pull. I'd be curious to see what you would lay down in the proper gear!

As Dan said. I made 411 RWHP in 4th gear in my first dyno session and when I went back and did 5th gear pulls I made 416 rwhp. 5th is the 1:1

That had to be on a mustang dyno. Or they did not have dyno set up properly.

Unless it was a loaded dyno jet? They read about 20-25 hp low.

Mine made 386rwhp SAE bone stock on a loaded dynojet 224xLC with a 5th gear pull. And factory 3.55s. That same day we installed a boss im, ORX, cai, flowmaster catback, and a custom 93 octane tune and made 441rwhp. These runs were approx. 3 hours apart. Same correction, etc... After a revised tune and switching to 3.73s, now making 446rwhp and not even revving past 7k rpm.

Correct. Me and 2 other guys on a lift. It was easily done, and we took our time.
