Ehh, the difference in sound between an H-pipe and X-pipe is pretty noticeable in most cases.

But what really calls the shots (unless you have an extremely exotic exhaust system with 180 degree header type ****) is valve timing/overlap, exhaust port shape, firing order, and number of cylinders.

Like others are saying, get Borla S-type. I had these on my old '99 GT and they sounded incredible!

i have both

outlaws: loud AF, hurts my ears after 30mins.

ataks: great sound without being annoying.

i went ahead and cut the mid pipes off to make the ataks a little louder, its perfect for me now.
