Gas mileage (need oponion)

Everywhere I go I speed. My car averages 11.5miles per gallons . My dads Corvette averages 22... How much MPG is it suppose to go up to? Right now I bumped it to 13 mpg by driving 40mph everyone . Need options

It's not necessarily how fast you drive... But how fast you get to that speed. If you are heavy on the pedal your mpg is going to go down.

+1 I like to floor it to get to speed just to hear the ring of my Borlas, but mpg suffers greatly, then again I really don't give a sh*t bout it cause Mustang.

Wear lighter shoes. Or get ur tibia and fibia shaved off cuz the problem is ur depressing on the gas peddle too much.

With that or you just got the wrong car. A Prius I hear gets 50mpg. A civic hybrid gets what 30mpg. A reg accord gets 27mpg. A Taurus also about 26/27mpg.

A 2013/1014 Mustanf GT gets 27mpg supposedly. I get 22mpg overvall.

But when I feel the devil I get maybe 16mpg.

But it ok. The price of the smile on my face is priceless.

Oh oh if I shift to 6th gear I get some pretty good mileage. Didn't realize there was a fifth or sixth gear for a while. Cuz... 1-4 is just so much nicer.

But there's no way in hell I will ever avg 11mpg outside of a track tho... Hmmm shift out of 1st and 2nd bro...

I have a heavy foot too! But I drive 80 miles highway to work ( round trip) . I average 23-25 mpg! When I drive to visit customers in town I still average 19-21 mpg! I've gotten 15 mpg at worst but that was on the drag strip! Have you clean the injectors! I also add injection cleaner to fuel tank every 6000 miles!

Hey I just tested on my car trying to avg 11mpg. I floored it at ever stop up to 40mph and cruised at 40 or 65 on the highway. Average over 20 miles of driving was 18.2mpg.

Then to further decrease mpg I floored the pedal and cruised but stayed in 4th gear only. Avg was 15.7mpg.

Then I reset the counter and floored the car and cruised in 2nd gear goin 40mph. Average was 12.4mpg but I only did this for about half a mile. In sure if I kept driving like this longer I could hit 11mpg.

Clear out your trunk to lighten the load. Also your car's mpg will go down when you are at traffic lights. Plan your routes to maximize right turns and this should help.

I wish I had some answers for you but my 2011 5.0 GT averages 19 to 20 GPM and I can get 25 on the highway at 75 MPH. I have a 6-speed manual, 3.73 gearing, and Roush axle-back exhaust, otherwise stock. You should be getting better mileage in my opinion.

I sell pumps so GPM (gal/min) comes up frequently in my business and thinking. But fuel mileage comes out a lot better with MPG. Good point!

It would be very very bad the other way... Pumps would make a fortune... As it is, they already make a good amount off of mustangs...

Something is wrong with simple tune up items or transmission/computer. Take it to a dyno shop and have it diagnosed before it gets worse. Unless you were joking, can't tell...

My average with 3.73s is around 18-19 with a 50/50 mix of hwy/city and I get on it a lot when I get onto the highway or wherever. That sounds way too low.

Also, try the manual calculation method (fill it up, write down the miles, then when you fill up again, do the math) - some people here have said that they were getting much different numbers than what the car says (though mine has always been within a half of a mpg).

2011 GTCS convertible 30500 mi. Bought it 2 mos ago and was getting 14.5 mpg. Changed oil to Mobil 1 full synthetic, K&N oil filter, K&N air filter, started using premium (93) gas, changed gas filter and now get 18-20+ mpg highway & city combine.

My 2011 5.0 GT Premium gets +19 to +20 MPG overall. I have to really play light with the gas pedal to exceed 22 MPG around town but I was able to get +25 MPG on a recent trip from OKC to Tulsa at 75 MPH. I have 3.73 gearing, 6-speed MT, 87 octane (no ethanol). Pure gasoline will improve your mileage over 10% ethanol.

Learn to baby the car around when you want MPG. Accelerate slowly to speed, don't downshift and keep it at 65mph on the highway and you'll get mid 20s or better. Drive like a prick and you'll get the mileage you are getting lol.

And base model Civics do not get 30mpg they get 40+ easy. Wife's Grandparents have a base model 2011 Civic sedan with an automatic and he was hitting 45.9 mpg on the county roads around here. If you want MPG, get something like that. You guys should see what the miniature turbo diesels in Europe get...

I have a 2014 GT Premium convertible with A/T. I live in the country but also do some city and highway driving every week. I get on it when I can which is about 50% of the time. Average 21 to 22 mpg every week burning 89 octane. Use MC recommended oil and change it every 5k. Most of the time I drive A/T in sport mode which leaves out OD. Never been below 18.5 sine the day I bought it. My brother has a '13 Boss 302 and has never seen less then 14 mpg!
