Getting me a 1996 V6 5 speed

I am hopefully trading my honda for a 1996 mustang v6 5 speed standard edition. This is going to be my project car. I am in high school so a limited budget. Here are some pics because in a while I will post some after I did some work on it. Any tips/ideas

Does need some work. But you took a good first step by getting the car.

yeah it far if from a good car but I went from a 94 accord to a 96 mustang. I am thinking of painting first? Is that what you would do?

Needs paint but as long as it runs good. One thing though don't pay over 1700 for it

Engine swaps are relatively straightforward in sn-95 mustangs. Literally all 4.6 2v/4v blocks will swap in with mild mods. Just need entire engine, cross member , ecu, front suspension and brakes. Not necessary but absolutely required are the transmission and differential. The 7.5 diff is weaker than 8.8 inch units, so adding hp beyond its capacity would be dangerous. Also it is an open diff which means 1 wheel peels. The transmission in yours is a t-5, but it is a tad bit weaker than world class t5's and the t-45 that came with the 4.6 mustangs til 2001. Either way, lots of options, and a great car to learn to tinker with. V6 or v8, you'll have fun and while some people don't care for the early sn95's , I find they have a certain appeal and they have nostalgic value to some of us!

Hope to see more of it soon!

5.0 liters are crazy fun. Definitely better than the early 4.6. They can make enormous power with relatively cheap mods. Cams, cobra intake, heads, , CAI etc . Real fun stuff. Plus, exhaust tones of 5.0 are awesome.

It already has cold air intake and flow master exhaust. I am thinking about lowering it by 1.5 first. What do y'all think or should I get a tuning kit?

tuning a pre I believe 1997 is a lot more difficult. You can't use a handheld tuner so if I were you if lower it.
