Trade-in?

I'm thinking I may try to trade in my 2013 GT Premium for the 2015 GT( possibly premium, depending on base price and dealer markup)know it's not even close to being out yet, but from what I have heard, it sounds like it is going to be great. Obviously I will wait to see what the production version of the 2015 looks like, because the renders look OK, it's growing on me, but I'm not sold(no pun intended) on it yet.

Even if I try to trade it in, it depends on the markup, and if my parents don't mind restarting the car payments, so I'm probably gonna end up keeping my 2013, which I do still like a lot. Stupid autocorrect, trying to make me type "restarting the cat"

If my kid came up with an idea like that, the 13 would be gone an he would find his self driving a $500 beater. Appreciate what your parent's have done, don't slap them in the face.

that's what happens when you get a 13 GT as your first car . . .

I knew people would say that, I'm very happy with my 13 GT, I just like what's confirmed about the 2015 so far, an IRS, 400 pounds lighter(better gas mileage) and 30 more HP. That's the only reasons why I'm even thinking about it. Think what you guys want to, but I like my car a lot.

I'm not "slapping them in the face" they know I like what's known about the 15, and that I like mine a lot. They also know that I might wanna trade it in, and if we can work out the finances, might do that. It would be a slap if I didn't like my GT at all, but I like it a lot.

Well, believe it or not, I did.
As I've said, I've only thought about it, and was looking for opinions, not a "OMG this kid is ungrateful" type thread. I am very happy with mine, if you saw me with it, you would know that is true.

It's just how I am. I'm not seriously considering it, just wanted people's opinion. I mistitled the thread, any way I can change if?

If your parents are rich like that take advantage and do it bro! Not everyone is that fortunate.. I have the exact opposite scenario.. I bought my mom an older Taurus for 3k a few months ago because neither her or my dad had money for a car for her(They plan on paying me back when more money is around)..

I wouldn't even worry about it. "Haters gonna hate".. you should know that already.. Don't worry about those who judge you negatively.

Do you realize you lost 10k the day you drove it off the lot. Payments will be a lot more.

Sticker was 42K, I'm hoping we might be able to get 30K. Otherwise, I think it would be a rip off, and I'd definitely keep mine, and I probably will anyways.

That doesn't have squat on the rest of the payments and on the insurance.

I'm not. I'm simply wondering what your opinions on it are, I'm almost certain I'm going to keep my GT, Ford would really have to surprise me on the exterior design, on top of what is confirmed, for me to even seriously consider a trade in.

If you put 18k down on the 13 I would imagine you have some equity in it and could use it as a trade with the down payment. Just comes down to monthly payment after that. I may do the same if I like the way the car looks and the SVT model inspires me to do it

that's what I'm thinking right now, it's growing on me, but still needs a bit more... Refinement, and a little more 2013-14 body style left.

Buying a new car isn't exactly a "good" investment from a financial standpoint. As mentioned earlier you lost several thousand dollars the minute you drove the car off the lot. You are lucky to have some equity in it, trading it now would let you get out of the car, but you would do it at the cost of most of your equity. Your 2013 is probably worth low-mid 20s as a trade in right now....there are still dealers with brand new 2013s they haven't sold yet. I know you are talking about when the 2015s come out, but the situation will be even worse then. You will have the "old" body style and a dealer will not want to give you top dollar for your trade.

The best move you could make would be to use and appreciate the money your parents put into your car by enjoying it for at least 5 years. At that point at least you will have gotten your money's worth and will still have a car worth a fair amount on a trade in. Swapping one car for another is a great way to put yourself in bad financial shape....something you should most definitely avoid if you are only 18. Keep your car, take care of it and enjoy it and don't let yourself get caught up in wanting the next big thing....you have the rest of your life to do that

I wasn't sure what to post it in, general, 2013, or the 2015 forum.
