MSD 2step

I bought 2step from a member on here. And I was just wondering if anyone knows how to install it or knows something that can help me out.

Does it have a jumper for your coil harness? Post a pic of it.

A launch controler (sometimes known as a stutterbox or 2 step rev limiter) are fairly simple, yet effective in ensuring consistent reliable launches at the track, strip or even on the street. The user defines a “launch rpm” that, when the 2-step activated, the vehicle will maintain. This allows the user to hold the car at full throttle while still maintaining a suitable RPM for launch, based on vehicle capabilities, traction, wheel hop, etc. Turbocharged cars see an additional benefit in the ability to build boost before the vehicle leaves the line. These capabilities lead to smoother, consistent and reliable launches with maximum power from the moment you leave the line. This will help lower your 60ft times and/or help you be the first into the corner

The MSD 2-step is great. Used it on all 3 ls1 cars i had. Ive never had any problems in the past, and saw huge improvements in my 60 ft. Just make sure to get some sticky tires to take full advantage. Install is relatively simple, atleast it was for my ls1s. Just follow the instructions i linked for you.

That sounds pretty cool.
Is it worth getting if your n/a?
How do you find the best rpm to launch at?

Yes, definitely worth getting if you're na. Makes launching much easier because you can just "floor it" instead of worrying about holding a specific rpm. Best rpm to launch at really depends on the car. Suspension mods, tires, nitrous, boost, etc all come into play. Basically you need to determine where you can hook the best, and set the controller accordingly. Making adjustments to the rpm is a breeze. Trial and error is best at first, but once you find that sweet spot, your 60 fts will be greatly improved, and more consistent.

I'd say unless you are planning to run at the track, dont waste your money. I don't condone street racing at all. And a 2-step is basically designed for track purposes. Unless you are running boost or nitrous.

If you are tracking the car a good bit though, i would definitely recommend it.

Hahaha. No problem man. They are great for the track. I'd love to add one to my Coyote now, but its kind of a dead giveaway to the dealer I've been tracking the car if any warranty issues arise. So I'll be waiting awhile haha.

99 z28 full bolt ons, with a 125 shot

Sold that

Another 99 z28 with fully built LQ9 block built by Thunder Racing with built t-56, 12-bolt rear with 4.33 gears, and a 150 shot, etc etc etc. Fastest car ive owned by far.

Sold that to finish paying for school.

Then a 04 GTO with basic bolt ons and a 100 shot. Also had an GTO with the Ls2 6.0. Then traded that in for the 5.0.

Also had 2 LT1 Trans Ams also before the ls1s.

Yup. 3 times. Once in my lt1, once in my 1st Camaro (although i did have 4.10s in the stock 10-bolt which made it even weaker) , and once in my built Camaro even before the motor was built. At that point i new i was going to build the car tho, hence the reason i just gave up and bought a Moser 12-bolt w/ 33 spline axles, and 4.33s haha

It's not that bad. Just read instructions online that include wire colors. That first wire cut is always the hardest.

+1. Just follow those instructions i linked for you. It looks like the same one, but double check the model number to be sure.

Oh you're right. Here are the instructions for yours.
http://www.msdignition.com/Products/..._Selector.aspx

After looking through the instructions, and looking around online, that 2-step requires an MSD 6AL ignition box. Do you already have one?

Did some more research for you man. You do have coils, so that 2-step isnt going to work for you. That one requires a plugin module ignition box, such as the 6AL which wont work on your car.
Here is the controller you should be using. The harness is just like the one for the Coyotes and my Ls1s. They plug directly into the coil harnesses for each cylinder.
