140k miles & oil

so I picked up my 05 GT with 140k and I've always heard don't go synthetic with a high mileage car. Atleast for the last 90-100k miles I'm pretty sure it's just had 5w30 Penzoil in it. Thoughts, opinions, & suggestions welcomed. I ran RP 5w30 in my sixxer & if I have to stick with conventional oil the main thing I'm gonna miss is how long I went between changes.

You will be fine. We took our truck with 145k on it that only ever had dinosaur oil and put synthetic in it. Never had any issues. When i change the oil in the Mustang, that has about 142k on it, i'm putting in synthetic.

Motorcraft blend oil with a Motorcraft filter. Cheap, effective, great oil, available everywhere.

What brand oil? Check your receipt, if it says "bulk oil" then it could be anything. Also you can get the Motorcraft blend in 5 qt jugs for $18 at wal mart. Throw in an extra qt at $3 and $3 for a Motorcraft filter. Under $25 for an oil change with a known good oil and you know you are doing it right vs having some minimum wage worker doing it.

If you have issues then its not going to be caused by an oil it'll be because something is on the way out. If it runs great then change it out with some Motorcraft or really any oil of your choosing. And don't wait to do the oil, even the if the PO says it just got done. Oil, trans fluid, differential fluid and the PS fluid if it looks dirty. Coolant drain/fill is good practice too.
