WANTED MORE SOUND

I have a completely stock exhaust except for the ford racing sport axle backs.
Looking for more of a deep and louder sound without deleting my cats and I don't have a tune. Any suggestions?

Try the BBK Ceramic Shorty Headers with the BBK Catted X-Pipe. Several people in here including myself, are running this type of setup. Luv It.

Difference between the Stock exhaust Manifolds and the BBK Shorties with stock Manual trans Mufflers.
Stock

Shorties

It is a Deeper tone and people have told me that those are not Borla Touring that I have on there now

Is a tune needed to use the shorty headers? And how's the install?

No. And fairly easy, pretty much the reverse of taking of the stock manifolds. I personally wouldn't waste money on shorties though....but thats just me

Would an off road x pipe make a large difference in sound? And would the smell of deleted cats be obvious?

Yes the smell is. But it isn't too bad once you get warmed up. And yes off-road makes a pretty big sound difference

Really the only way to increase the sound on a car is going to be cutting out the cats.
On my 03 v6 I had a catted H and flow 40s installed and it droned like a b*tch

Now I own a termi with the stock catted H and magnapacks(kinda like stingers) and it has 0 drone... I will never understand why....
But I also plan on going O/R X with Kooks LTs.

So, I say if you want DEEP go H-pipe
LOUD- go X-pipe
DEEP and LOUD- a good medium is prochamber
I personally would get rid of the cats and get MIL eliminators until you can get a tune on it
The new 4v v6 sounds good, it's very exotic sounding, so I would stay away from a x...
Go H or Pro
But it's ur car bud. Have fun good luck

The people keep saying not to waste there money on shorties obviously have not driven the 3.7 with shorties The power band is now from 2000 RPM on up instead of starting north of 3000 RPM with smoother acceleration.
My car also has the Cut and Clamp FRPP X-Pipe, did not make it any more exotic sounding, just lowered the tone an octave or so.

If spending money on headers why not get the better choice of longtubes instead of slightly better flowing prettier over stock manifold shorties or wait and save or longtubes if you're dead set on getting headers? The minimal gains just are not worth it imo. But its not my money not my car not my choice.

Simply because removing a functioning Catalytic Converter is against Federal Law. Just had a friend go through the the court system in NC with the original fine being $10000 for High Flow Cats, dropped to $1500 after putting the stock exhaust back on.
All those little "For Off Road Use Only" mean that is you get a cop that knows cars and you happened to piss off or came pissed off to your window
Oh and for those minimal gains, the only place Long tubes had the Shorties beat was at the very top end, I am not a Drag Racer so having better low to mid range power is still better for say road racing or being a daily driver

Chambered mufflers are more likely to drone than straight through (bullet style) mufflers.

If your refering to the mentioning of removing the cats, I'd say he woke up on the right side of the bed, and is simply offering a warning to those who choose to use an "off road" exhaust setup on the street. Not only can a bad mood police officer tangle with you, so can a buyer if/when you sell the vehicle without cats. I've mentioned this before in other posts...my son got hit with this when he sold his Subaru WRX STI. Even though it was sold "as is", the buyer filed a suit, as it was not able to pass an inspection in his state. Saturday morning, my son was served papers, and he could either pay a 40K fine, or buy the car back. He bought it back, and promptly put the cats back on. Even a dealership that takes your car in on trade cannot sell it without cats, and can come back at you if they choose.

I'm all for fun, hp/tq gains, and pleasent tunes out of the tail pipes, but not if it's going to cost me fines.

+1 only take the cats off if you are ready to put them back on. That's why I kept my stock midpipe.

I'm sort of debating a midpipe myself, It's hard to find an H-pipe with cats for the sixers though..I don't want the hassle of the above examples for an O/R pipe. I'm trying to get the deepest possible sound out of mine, it's already pretty deep with shorties and pype bombs.. BTW, if you want deep..RUN AWAY from long tubes...sounds like a fart cannon lol.

MRT sells one and it's "custom" so you'll have to wait 3 weeks like they told me then finally ship it out 2 months later and if it doesn't fit, you can't take it back cause it's so freaking custom just for your car!

IMO, get a catted X, go to a shop and make the H. Way easier than dealing with those idiots at MRT.

Yeah I thought about doing that, it shouldn't be too hard for them to do. Do you think they could take the stock mid pipe and make it into an H? I know the stock is sort of a "hybrid" between an X and H.

Shorties, FRPP X-Pipe with Borland Touring so the sound is close to what the FRPP would sound like

Any shop can. Just how good is the job. My shop has this 22 year old guy as an assistant and he has by far, the most beautiful, even welds. He fabricated my flowmaster 40 series just like the stock inlets and welded them to the catback piping and did it in a way I could cut them off if needed.
