I'm just sitting back with my popcorn watching. The thought that the 2V or 3V in stockish form is in the same league as the Coyote is laughable I mean it really is. Yes with money you can hit a decent number with the 2V/3V. With money you can set up a bolt on or cam only 2V making around 300hp to run low 12s.

The Coyote with pretty much the same amount of money invested in bolt ons will blow the doors off the 2V or 3V, its the upfront cost of getting into one that is prohibitive for a lot of ppl.

Now if you are building a racecar... yeah you get a cheaper SN or beat up 3V S197 and put whatever in it and go. The whole "I can build a car making 600hp for half of a new Coyote cost" is not even an arguement. Its two totally different animals and to make the SN95 or Edge or whatever car as NICE as a new Coyote you are going to be spending near the price of the new Coyote anyway so w/e. And the Coyote is still going to have the warranty and the actual newness to it.

The rotating assembly in your Boss is also good for way more power than the average Coyote.

Yes it does , it's obvious why the 5.0 makes more power it has more displacement
that being said a blown 4.6 will be more fuel efficient running the same RWHP.

Advantage 4.6

Umm I thought the 4.6s got around 23 mpg highway and the 5.0s get 25. Going off the sticker

That`s great but I like the sound of a SUPERCHARGER I love the whine.....
just sounds so NASTY .... anyways I could forge my engine , upgrade the trans ,
run a smaller pulley thus increasing boost , and up my power to 700 + RWHP and in the end I still spend way less than a new 5.0 + I have the body style I like.

advantage 4.6

And 5.0s can get better mpg than their sticker. But to say that the 4.6 is more efficient than the 5.0 by ignoring the sticker... no.. ---------- Post added at 08:26 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:24 AM ----------

So the 5.0 has 100+ more hp just from its extra displacement. So why does the 3.7 have roughly 100 more hp than the 4.0?

You guys must not have looked at comparisons of 4.6 2v 3v or 4v compared to 5.0 in gas mileage. The 5.0 looks like a Prius in comparison to mpg with a 2v, and makes more power doing it.

Eh... real world numbers vs what the EPA will rate are totally different. The manufacturers get those numbers in a wind tunnel with a professional driver putting the motor right in the sweet spot at the lowest legal speed to test at.

Also you'll never beat a LS1 or even a LT1 for highway MPG. Known multiple ppl who got over 30mpg hand calculated on those and doing 80mph to boot. Gotta love that .50 overdrive and 3.43 (I think) gear ratio in the back.

02-04s were identical for all intents and purposes. The .62 overdrive and 3.27s get you something like 1800rpm at 80mph I'd hope you get that mileage. I got around that in my 95 Cobra when it had the stock 3.08s but that had a .68 overdrive.
