Pros and Cons of Mustang V6?

Hi, I'm searching for a 99-04 Mustang V6 (previously wanted V8 but I feel that theres no need considering I have recently gotten a speeding ticket and 4 points on my license in a 00' Honda CR-V). I just wanted to know some of the good things about it as well as the bad. I will most likely be buying an 01-03 Automatic. Is it really that slow? Compared to my current car? Also, how does it handle, will I have fun driving it? I am going to be using it as a DD so I don't need it to go fast which I'm not expecting to but I would at least want it to be enjoyable to drive in, with the option of maybe making it a little faster in the future, or who knows maybe just upgrading to a newer Mustang

Trust me. Buying a slow car isn't gonna keep you from speeding. I've tried to race people in crappier cars than that lol. People are gonna dog you for buying a v6 and your always gonna get asked why you didn't buy a v8

That being said:
The v6 is ok. But a v6 auto is def gonna be slow as fuxk lol. But it's a good car

Honestly, a Mustang with a V6 and an automatic is not going to be alot of fun with only 190 horses. If you are just looking for a DD it might be ok. Your insurance rates will likely be high, simply because the insurance companies see any mustang as a 2 door sports car and because of your tickets. If I were you I would save up for a GT and avoid getting anymore tickets.

3.8 ftw you don't need to go 100 mph so a sixxer is just fine and it's fun. I don't regret buying one (well I wish both wheels would spin but eh) and it's a convertible so a bigger plus for me

Is it slower than 99-03 civics / old gtis / integras? Those are the types of cars people in my area drive. As long as I find it fun to drive I won't mind.

I'm not a big fan of 4:10s they are nice in the 1/8 and 1/4 but 3:73 to me a a great gear for track and street and once you start to get a lot of power 4:10 or bigger sometimes just spin to fast

It all depends on what you want to do to the car. They can handle good when modded correctly, but coming from a CRV it will be a pretty major difference in handling. As far as racing Civics and Integras... well that seems kind of pointless and a waste of gas.

My nephew had an 04 w/4.0. It was a nice car, but not good on mileage. It will not stop a lead foot. If you were talking about the current V6, I would heartedly recommend that engine. For prior to 2010, the 4.6 is the best engine for all purposes.

So you mean 05 4.0? The 04 had a 3.9

I guess it must have been the 3.8L. I was thinking the 4.0L were in the New Edge models.

To me it's one of those things where if you get the 6 banger then a couple of months down the road you might wonder why you just didn't get the GT, but if you got the GT I don't think you would be asking yourself why you didn't get the six banger. You might on the other hand ask yourself why you didn't get a Mach or Cobra

Agreed on the V6 smack talk. Although If I were you, look for an 05-09 Mustang V6. You get more power, optional traction control, I regularly get 26-28mpg, and it moves the car very well.

Honestly, keep the CRV unless its your Parents' or something and you need to buy your own car. If not, get a DD that gets better milage than the V6 stang. An auto V6 stang is slow, there is no getting around it. And the fact that you are asking about "is it faster than XX" means you should REALLY stick with the 00' CRV...

Also I'm guessing you are young and a guy and not married. With having just got 4 points on your license insurance is going to go through the roof. Couple that with a 2 door sports coupe and it'll be even worse.

Also, IMO, there is 0 point to a V6 Mustang prior to 2011 unless you HAVE to have the look and can't afford the V8. Its slow, not utilitarian at all and really doesn't have any good DD creature comforts. I'd rather have a 4 door sedan or a Crossover like the CR-V. Wife has a 2001 CR-V which is the same thing as the 00' you have and they are great little cars. AWD, can hold a pretty decent amount of stuff, sit up high, 25mpg, dead nuts reliable as hell and cheap costwise/insurance wise.

No, you won't win any street races in a V6 Mustang prior to 2011 nor should you be street racing with the ricers which is what you are really asking when you ask "if its fun to drive". Racing against 99.999999% of civics/gti/integras is like racing a retarded kid. Only ones I've ever seen that were legit fast were crazy assed 9/10 second ones at the 1/4 mile and those were not what you would call "street cars".
