Hennessey Performance thoughts and opinions

Living in Houston, Texas, Hennessy Performance is practically around the corner from me. What do you guys think about their mods available for the current mustang gt? I am interested in everyone's thoughts and opinions. Thank you.

Hennessy is just about the best place to get your car worked on in the southern United States. They have won over countless contracts with many brands due to the excellence in quality of their jobs. That's why you see Hennessy raptors, corvettes, ford GTs, and a slew of others. I'd feel confident with them doin work on any of the cars I own.

I havent seen any builds on any mustangs from Hennessy, not to say that they cant do it.. but as far as them having basic bolt ons, they won't. They could probably take your car and build on it as they test it to squeeze every last bit of power out of it, however be ready to be without your car a bit and drop some serious cash. I know a guy that lives in cypress and has possibly the worlds only custom convertible SRT Challenger and Hennessy did a build on his and he said it was around 15k-20k i believe for them to do it, however money is no obstacle for him at all, so he probably went all out.

The only personal experience I have with Hennessey is I got to check out a 2006 SRT8 JGC with a Hennessey (twin?) turbo. It was a few years ago and can't recall if it was single or twin! Owner raved about them, and the quality looked fantastic. I was impressed.
A friend of mine years ago had a Viper GTS with a Hennessey TT kit. Never saw it, but he loved it.
They seem to be a great company. I would use them in a heartbeat, as long as the price wasn't too rediculous!

Hennessey Performance thoughts and opinions

As of a few days ago, they got the new sting ray to hit 200.6 mph on a Texas toll road. All the state troopers came out to test their radar guns. Heres the video if anyone is interested. http://youtu.be/B-gzNi6MRwI

They do build some monstrous cars.

This video is awesome! they did this on the new grand parkway tollroad outside of Houston, little did i know they were doing the runs about 10 miles from my moms house lol, would have been awesome sight to see. They were aslo testing the toll road cameras that catch people that do not pay the tolls.. The cameras actually caught the plates of the vette doing 200mph..pretty impressive stuff.

I live near that toll road and yes, that is an awesome video. I wish I could have been near where the car hit 200mph.

This is mostly what I have heard about Hennessy, that they build some monster cars.

I've heard some bad things about their business practices. Google Hennessey crook, and you will see some disheartening stories. But the cars he completes are monsters.

I think it was heads, cams, and exhaust. Plus the 100 shot of juice. I think they're going to replace the nitrous with a blower, and sell it as a package deal. Pretty cool footage nonetheless. It must be so surreal flying by a line of cops at 200 mph.

Hennessey has a pretty bad reputation with quite a few car crowds. I know on the corvette forum nobody would allow him to touch their cars and those that did have work done, overpaid. Especially for the numbers they produced.

Personally I haven't bought anything of his or plan to. There are some great tuners/builders out there that have great reputations.

Question

texasfordfan, could you sneak around the Hennessey performance shop and see what kind of performance he is pulling out of Mustangs ? I would like to have some idea of what Hennessey is working on for the 5.0 Mustang.

Yeah - they're pretty harsh on him over on the Focus ST forums as well.

Hennessey tunes are weak. All all Hennessey hp ratings are at the crank not the tires, for the 5.0's. There all slow

I just read a bunch of threads about Hennessey and lost any/all respect for them as a tuner. What a joke.

I had never heard about any of the issues with Hennessey but definitely something to consider when looking for somewhere to work on your vehicle.
