i am not antediluvian in my beliefs. There is no question with modern technology the manual trans is increasingly less relevant or necessary for performance. Had there been a properly set up auto available with other factory performance options at the time of my purchase, I'd have taken the choice seriously.

2011 stats

Excluding the Shelby GT500, 31.17% of Mustangs had manual transmissions

Obviously that includes all the transportation V6s as well as the GTs. The GTs still do more manuals than autos, by a lot. I think it was about 65% in the GTs that year.

Most of the stangs at the dealers near me are manual, although, lately it's been about even.

They told me the reason is most people that come in to buy the 5.0 are older guys that don't want the stick and most of the v6s are younger people that can't drive stick lol and like I said it may just be around here

Hey! I'll be learning stick soon, I know what to do, just haven't actually driven one yet. Whenever my dad feels that I should learn it. Which will probably be by my birthday in June.

Truth, at some point I'm going to find another mustang GT(manual, 00-10, maybe an 11) and just track the heck out of it.

The drag strip yes, actual track, not sure how an auto would do, I've heard that a stick is better for a track.

I think he was talking about a road course not the drag strip. Aren't the sticks better there?

Probably a new edge GT, or a firebird TA.

Better get the TA. bc any mustang prior to the 11 and up 5.0 is a joke compared to the 98 and up LS1'S

That's what I was thinking, I've got some big plans if I get the firebird. The TA I would get would either be the latest gen(I think it's 95-02) or the 76-79 TA.

98 and up is the only way to go. 98 is the first year for the ls1

I wonder if an LS7 would fit in the engine bay... Or an LT1, then I'd get better suspension.

The LT1 is junk. Stay with LS1, ls2, ls3, ls6, ls7. Yes a ls7 would but the cost of one is not worth it.
