General Issues

Hey Everyone!!

I'm new to the forum and I'm anxiously waiting to get my first mustang!! I've been reading the threads, and I know that every car has it's issues, but I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the most common problems are on a mustang. I'm looking for a 2008-2012...ish. Any info would be appreciated, thanks!!

A 2012 or 2013 in a V6 would be a good deal. Besides all you have to do is bring up your pouty face and let your boyfriend or applicant for boyfriend fix it.

Welcome to the forum! As for problems it all depends on the year you get. Take a look at the year specific forums and see what kinds of problems people are running inti

If looking for a V6, make sure it's got the newer 3.7L. They make nearly as much power as the pre-2011 GTs. If looking for a V8, I'd still suggest a 2011+ model. The build quality on the Mustang was substantially refined in 2011. However, as was aforementioned, the 2011 GT eats up oil, so perhaps if you're looking for a GT, go 2012+.

I've got a 2014 V6 base with Sync and some other amenities and I couldn't be happier.

One issue you're going to have to deal with across the board is rattles. Mustangs like to rattle. They rattle in the doors, the dash, the back seats, they just rattle all over. It's most noticeable if you install a louder aftermarket exhaust. The louder the exhaust, the more violent the vibrations it create, thus more rattling in the cabin. It's livable, turning up the radio a little or rolling the window down addresses the problem, but its there! I am coming from a Honda Accord which had fewer rattles, so I'm probably just not used to it.

Welcome darlin'!

The 11 gt is a gem.

The "eating oil" problem is being overblown.

Was very rare and basically stopped after 10k miles.

I ran full synthetic for day one and never had any issues.

The only issue that continues is the manual trans issues. But again, for all the forum complaints , how many thousands run perfect you don't hear about.

The 3.7 V6 is great

I have a 2012 3,7 V6 automatic "Premium" MCA and with a few modifications to get it "MY WAY" I would not give it up for anything.

Good MPG ( I can't keep my foot out of it or it could be better)
Great performance. (YES)
Extremely great looks (YES)
Fun to drive (YES)
NO RATTLES AT ALL IN THIS CAR
Very Comfortable
It uses no oil at all between changes.

I'm sure you will be more then happy with a 2011 up Mustang V6 weather you get the automatic or manual.

Thank you!! I'm not sure what I'm getting yet. I'm looking at so many options. I know I want it to roar when it starts and have that low rumble when I'm sitting at a light or something. I'll definitely post when I get it...Hopefully very soon!!

Sounds like you want the V8, with an aftermarket exhaust. The stock exhaust is way too quiet on the 11+ GT's.

I have a 13 GT

Mine has very few rattles.

Great performance

Automatic(the 13-14 GT's have a manual mode, it's called selectshift)

and a great appearance

I'm almost positive it won't be a 13-14. I'll be surprised if it's a 12. The few that I've found that I'm really interested in are 08-09. Little older than I was hoping for, but...don't want to break the bank.

Yeah, it's nearly impossible to get a 13-14 GT for under 27K, and that's completely base. 11-12's have some good deals out if you look hard, the 11 does drink oil. If you want a 5.0, I'd wait until the 15 comes out, then 11-14 GT's prices will be slashed. If you go with a V6, get the new 3.7L on the 11+. The other V6's are anemic. Either way, congrats on a mustang and whatever you choose.
