Engine light keeps coming on

I recently installed arh long tube catted headers and airaid cia on my 2010 mustang gt. After about 200 miles the engine light came on. I keep clearing the codes (0420,0430) but it keeps coming on. Anyone have the same problem? How did you fix it?

Did you get a tune for everything?

I did the tune using my sct bama tuner. Am i supposed to turn the 02 sensors off?

Yes you still need to have the rear o2's turned off. The problem is the hi flow cats flow so well the o2's do not detect them. If you have emissions this is going to be a problem.

How do I turn them off? Also, I have to pass emissions testing, can I work around that?

AM can tell you for sure. I think mill eliminators will get the computer part of emissions to pass. If you turn the back O2s off with your tuner the emissions computer will notice it has been electronically bypassed.
The factory cats send out a certain frequency. The shorty cats flow too fast and the computer sends a code error. Its hard for me to explain this. I saw the test on a Snap On Diagnostics machine. The test determines if the cats or O2s are bad. Mill eliminators will fool the computer into thinking the proper signal is received.

I do not think you will pass the smog tester if you live in California. The shorty cats work every where but Cali. They say they work in Nevada but I do not personally know.

First thing you need to do is contact Bama and have them give you a tune revision with the rear o2's turned off AND, very important, COT turned off. As far as emissions are concerned there are tuners that can keep the readiness tests functioning as well as keep the CEL from coming on with those codes. Bama does not have the ability to do that. Mil's may work but more often than not they don't.

Ok. I am going to call bama tomorrow. I wonder if I could cut my original cats and replace them?

I know in NY where I used to live no shop would touch an aftermarket converter unless installing a new factory original one that they ordered themselves, and California is even more strict. Here in KY I could drive a monster truck that runs on baby seal tears and unicorn blood and nobody would care. If you can weld or have a buddy weld then you may have to do it yourself worst case scenario.
